Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

According to the official calendar on visitjurmala.lv, Jurmala's municipal New Year's Eve celebration in 2026 takes place in Kauguri. In recent years the public programme started around 23:00 at the Kauguri Culture House (Raina iela 110) and ran until about 01:00. Typical elements include a live band, a year-in-review photo feature, a short link to the Latvian television broadcast before midnight, and fireworks or a light show. The full 2026/2027 line-up had not been published in full as of September 2026, so times and acts may still change.

Before midnight, the Christmas Festival shapes the cultural programme: Dzintari Concert Hall (Turaidas iela 1) hosts classical, choral and chamber concerts from 19 to 31 December 2026. The festive season opens on 28 November 2026 with the lighting of the city's main Christmas tree on Jomas Street in Majori. Visitors who prefer a seated indoor party usually book hotel galas, for example at Jurmala SPA Hotel (Jomas iela 47/49) or Baltic Beach Hotel & SPA (Juras iela 23/25). Menus, artists and 2026/2027 prices should be confirmed directly with the hotels once they are released.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Jurmala

The city's public New Year's Eve event in Kauguri has been free of charge in recent years. As of September 2026, no official announcement had replaced that practice for 2026/2027; check visitjurmala.lv before you travel. Christmas Festival tickets at Dzintari Concert Hall are sold through Latvian ticket outlets and the concert hall; previous festival evenings often cost around 15 to 40 euros depending on the concert.

Hotel galas are ticketed and require a reservation. For the previous turn of the year (2025/2026), published packages included about 195 euros for the programme only and about 249 to 286 euros for programme plus overnight stay at Jurmala SPA Hotel, and 290 to 390 euros per adult for dinner parties at Baltic Beach Hotel & SPA. Afterparties were advertised from about 25 euros. Prices for 2026/2027 had not been widely released by September 2026. There is no single city ticket shop: public event news is on visitjurmala.lv, and hotel tables are booked with each property.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Jurmala

  • The easiest route from Riga is the commuter train toward Tukums (operator Vivi), about 30–35 minutes. Alight at Majori for Jomas Street; Kauguri needs a further bus, taxi or local transfer. Drivers entering the paid access zone need a Jurmala entry pass (5 euros per day as of 2026).
  • Late December on the Baltic coast is cold, windy and often damp, with temperatures frequently around freezing. Wear layers, a windproof coat, hat, gloves and non-slip shoes, especially if you watch fireworks outdoors or walk the beach.
  • Hotels in Majori, Dzintari and on the beachfront sell out for New Year's Eve. Book early, or keep Riga as a backup overnight base.
  • The public countdown is focused on Kauguri, while the main festive promenade is Jomas Street in Majori. They are different districts, so allow transfer time if you want both.
  • Last trains back to Riga can be reduced on public holidays. Check vivi.lv on the day and secure either a return connection or a local room in advance.
