Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary is one of the most atmospheric places in the Czech Republic to spend New Year's Eve 2026/2027 if you prefer spa hotels, historic architecture and a winter wellness break over a packed city square. Christmas markets at the Mill Colonnade run from 29 November 2026 to 1 January 2027, while the night of 31 December focuses on hotel galas, the Diana lookout party and a walk through the illuminated spa centre. Thermal springs, colonnades and grand dining rooms set the tone for a luxury-oriented celebration.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

Karlovy Vary does not stage a single central open-air festival with an official municipal fireworks show. The city has not organised a large public firework display for several years, and pyrotechnics are more tightly regulated. Instead, the season is built around the Christmas market at the Mill Colonnade (open until 1 January 2027), decorated colonnades and private hotel events. Around midnight, amateur fireworks can often be seen from viewpoints such as Diana.

On 31 December 2026 most hotel galas open between 18:30 and 19:30 and continue past midnight. The Diana party runs from 19:00 to about 02:00, with the funicular carrying guests from 19:00; the ticket includes a banquet, 1960s–1980s dance music and a sparkling-wine toast on the terrace. Grandhotel Pupp has announced a Bond-themed evening in the Festive Hall: doors at 18:30, programme from 19:30, welcome drink, dinner, selected drinks until midnight and a midnight buffet. On 1 January 2027 the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra presents New Year gala concerts at the Pupp at 16:30 and 19:30, with music by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Strauss and others. Market entertainment listings and any extra concerts are published closer to the date on the official city site.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Karlovy Vary

Walking the spa centre, colonnades and Christmas market is free. Ticketed evenings vary by venue. Diana currently charges 2,550 CZK (about 106 EUR) for winter-garden seats and 3,150 CZK (about 130 EUR) for the main hall; the funicular and lookout tower are included, drinks except the midnight toast are extra. A Grandhotel Pupp gala ticket has been listed at 9,000 CZK (about 370 EUR), covering festive dinner, welcome drink, selected beverages until midnight and a toast. Older public listings of around 250 EUR per Pupp ticket may not match the 2026 theme night, so confirm directly with the hotel. Full stay packages cost more: Hotel Thermal advertises four-night New Year packages from about 756 EUR per person with half board, gala dinner and wellness access, with arrival possible from 28 December 2026. Other spa hotels sell similar packages with festive menus and treatments. Book early; rooms and gala tables sell out.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Karlovy Vary

  • Getting there: Prague is the nearest major airport; the transfer by train, bus or car takes around two hours. The spa centre is compact and walkable. For Diana, use the funicular from the station next to Grandhotel Pupp on Marianska Street.
  • Weather and dress: Late December is cold, often around freezing, with possible snow. Wear warm layers and sturdy shoes for the colonnades; galas usually ask for smart casual or black tie optional.
  • Where to stay: Grandhotel Pupp, Hotel Thermal, Hotel Imperial and other historic spa hotels are the natural base for a luxury New Year. Many require a three- or four-night minimum over the turn of the year.
  • Wellness on New Year's Day: 1 January is ideal for thermal pools, saunas and the drinking colonnades once the night is over. Reserve medical consultations for a classic drinking cure in advance.
  • Fireworks: Do not plan around an official city display. Choose Diana or a forest viewpoint if you want a panorama, and respect local limits on private pyrotechnics.
