Welcome to the New Year's Eve and New Year 2026/2027 in Telc
Telc, in the Vysocina highlands of the Czech Republic, is a UNESCO-listed Renaissance town built for a quiet year-end rather than a stadium-scale party. Public celebrations centre on Zacharias of Hradec Square in front of the town hall, with the castle and fishponds only a short walk away. The civic New Year toast for 1 January 2027 is not yet posted in full as of early autumn 2026; the city usually confirms it later on telc.eu, following a stable annual pattern.
Highlights & Attractions at New Year's Eve and New Year in Telc
- A floodlit UNESCO square of gabled townhouses, fountains and a Marian column instead of packed boulevard crowds
- A civic New Year toast with the mayor, held in recent years on 1 January at 17:00 outside the town hall
- Local choirs, a brass quintet and a fire-and-aerial show in place of a municipal fireworks barrage
- A chance to ring the historic town-hall bell for luck
- Winter edition concerts of Holidays in Telc at Telc Castle from 27 to 31 December 2026
- A New Year's Eve hike up Javorice on 31 December 2026, with a toast on the summit
- Living nativity, wooden Christmas cottages and seasonal castle tours as a gentle run-up to midnight

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
The municipal calendar already lists Winter Holidays in Telc at the castle (27–31 December 2026) and the Silvester ascent of Javorice (31 December 2026). The public New Year gathering has, for several years, meant a late-afternoon toast in front of the town hall, performances by Telc choirs, Hynek Vohoska’s brass quintet, and a fire show with aerial acrobatics by Siderea. Telc does not stage a large official fireworks display; the town prefers a quieter format with fire art. Confirm the 2027 toast time on telc.eu before you travel.
Expect an intimate evening: lights on the square, reflections on the ponds, optional castle interiors, and restaurants that fill early. There is no Prague-style midnight megashow. That is the point of coming here.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve and New Year Telc
Admission to the civic toast on the square is free and does not require tickets. Castle Christmas tours and winter concerts are ticketed separately; recent castle tours cost about 220 CZK (around 9 EUR) and individual concerts or dance nights about 8–12 EUR. Buy or check availability via telc.eu, the tourist office in the town hall, zamek-telc.cz and prazdninyvtelci.cz. Hotel New Year dinners are extra and sell out in a small town.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Telc
- By car from Prague allow about 2–2.5 hours. Trains usually involve a change in Jihlava or Kostelec u Jihlavy, then a local bus or taxi to the historic centre.
- New Year in the highlands is cold, often snowy and windy. Pack insulated layers, waterproof winter boots and gloves.
- Room stock inside the UNESCO core is limited. Book pensions, castle-area hotels and nearby chalets for 31 December 2026–1 January 2027 as early as possible.
- For midnight outdoors, stroll the square; for a hilltop toast, join the marked Javorice hike on 31 December (837 m).
- The tourist information centre at namesti Zachariase z Hradce 10 is the best place to reconfirm castle hours and last-minute program notes.
