Welcome to the New Year's Eve and New Year Celebrations 2026/2027 in Aveiro
Aveiro, often called the Venice of Portugal, welcomes the new year in the city centre: at Praca do Rossio and along Canal Central on the Ria de Aveiro. The official 2026/2027 artist lineup from the municipality has not been published yet; public celebrations usually take place on the night of 31 December into 1 January as part of the municipal Boas Festas em Aveiro programme. Admission to the street party is typically free.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
In recent editions the public programme on 31 December started around 21:30 with live acts on the Rossio stage, followed by a countdown just before midnight. The highlight is the pyromusical multimedia spectacle on Canal Central, with fireworks, sound and light reflected on the water. DJs then keep the square dancing. The exact 2026/2027 lineup is expected to be released by Camara Municipal de Aveiro in December on cm-aveiro.pt.
Boas Festas em Aveiro continues into January with classical New Year concerts at Teatro Aveirense and the popular Sao Goncalinho festivities in the fishing quarter, known for sweet cavacas thrown from the chapel. Hotel galas and private Reveillon dinners in the region are separate paid events.
