Welcome to the New Year's Eve Celebrations 2026/2027 in Lagos
Lagos on Portugal’s Algarve coast marks the 2026/2027 New Year with a public celebration on Praça do Infante. The municipality has announced Nininho Vaz Maia as the headline artist for New Year’s Eve; midnight fireworks over the bay and music into the early hours are long-standing local traditions. The official square event is free. Exact start times and supporting acts are usually released later in the autumn on the Câmara Municipal de Lagos channels.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
The official New Year’s Eve party takes place on 31 December 2026 at Praça do Infante. In recent years the concert started at 22:30, fireworks at midnight and a DJ set shortly after. For 2026/2027, Nininho Vaz Maia is confirmed as the main artist; the DJ, support acts and precise timetable had not been published in full by late August 2026. Through December the same square usually hosts a Christmas village with lights, stalls and family entertainment. Many visitors book dinner in the old town or at the marina, then walk to the square or the waterfront for midnight. Hotels and resorts around Lagos also run ticketed gala dinners; those are separate from the free municipal celebration.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Lagos
The official celebration on Praça do Infante is expected to remain free, in line with previous editions. There are no municipal tickets for the square. Food, drinks and extras on site are paid separately. Hotel galas, club nights and restaurant packages require booking and payment with each venue. Official updates appear on cm-lagos.pt.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Lagos
- Getting there: Faro Airport is about one hour away. Trains and long-distance buses serve Lagos station and the bus terminal. Local buses run under the A ONDA network. Avenida dos Descobrimentos is often partly closed on New Year’s Eve; arrive early and walk the last stretch.
- Weather and clothing: December days on the Algarve are often mild, but nights can be cool and windy. Bring layers, sturdy shoes and a windproof jacket; rain is possible.
- Where to stay: Rooms in the historic centre, at the marina and in Meia Praia sell out for New Year’s Eve. Book early if you want to walk to the fireworks.
- Pets: Midnight fireworks are loud. Leave animals at home or prepare hearing protection.
- Views and safety: Good vantage points include Praça do Infante, sections of Avenida dos Descobrimentos and higher spots facing the bay. Keep bags close in the crowd.
