Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
The public evening starts in the afternoon and early evening in the old town. Many visitors pair the last days of the Christmas Village (Place Saint-Lambert, Espace Tivoli and Place du Marché; 2026/2027 season typically until 30 December) with a booked dinner. Théâtre de Liège has a confirmed 31 December 2026 programme from 18:00: All Ears by Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, a champagne (or non-alcoholic) welcome, and an optional four-course BACI dinner with midnight champagne; the Café des Arts stays open afterwards. A city-run midnight fireworks show on a central square has not been officially locked in at the time of writing.
After midnight the focus shifts to Le Carré bars and clubs and to hotel lounges. Classical New Year concerts often appear in the first days of January (the previous season included a Ravel Boléro night with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liege) – check Opera Royal de Wallonie-Liège, the philharmonic and Visit Liege for 2027 dates. Street fireworks remain banned, including near Seveso industrial sites.
