Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Nazare
New Year's Eve and New Year celebrations in Nazare, on Portugal's Silver Coast, are among the most atmospheric public parties between Lisbon and Porto. The municipality traditionally hosts two days of free street and beach entertainment — usually 30 and 31 December — with the Atlantic as the backdrop. The detailed 2026/2027 line-up had not been published at the time of writing; Câmara Municipal da Nazaré typically releases the programme in December.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
In recent years official entertainment started around 18:00 with brass bands and roaming music in the streets. Evenings focused on the sand: local live bands, DJ sets inside a beach tent and a second stage (Palco Norte). At midnight a fireworks display lit the sky above the ocean; some editions also used a laser countdown on the promontory. The beach party then continued into the early hours.
For 2026/2027, check the agenda on cm-nazare.pt and the municipality's channels once it goes live. Artists and exact times change from year to year. Hotels and resorts sell separate New Year's dinners; the open-air beach celebration remains the main free gathering.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Nazare
The municipal open-air programme in Nazare has been free of charge in recent editions, with no ticket required for fireworks, street acts or beach stages. Food and drinks are paid at bars, cafés and stalls. Separate hotel Réveillon packages (dinner plus party) are ticketed and often cost a three-figure euro amount per person; they are not part of the public event. Until the 2026/2027 notice is issued, treat the official city website as the only source for confirmation.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Nazare
- Getting there: Drive or take a bus from Lisbon (about 1.5 hours) or Leiria; Valado dos Frades station is nearby, then continue by bus or taxi. On 31 December the seafront Avenida Manuel Remigio is often closed to cars in the evening — arrive early or walk / use the funicular between Praia and Sitio.
- Weather and dress: Late December temperatures often sit around 10–16 °C, with Atlantic wind and possible drizzle. Pack layers, a windproof jacket, sturdy shoes for wet sand and a hat.
- Stay: Hotels, apartments and guesthouses in Praia and Sitio sell out for New Year's Eve. Book early, especially rooms with sea or promontory views.
- Best fireworks spots: the beach and promenade in the lower town, plus the cliff in Sitio; the fort headland can be crowded and very windy.
- Practical notes: Glass bottles have been restricted on the party area in previous years. Agree a meeting point, watch belongings, and expect queues at the funicular after midnight.
