Funchal is one of Europe's best known New Year's Eve destinations, yet the night is about much more than the famous fireworks over the bay. As 2026 turns into 2027, hotels, the casino, a municipal park and several clubs each celebrate in their own way. This guide presents the parties and venues one by one and states openly which programs are confirmed and which are not yet.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in Funchal in 2026/2027

According to the official events calendar, the fireworks start at 23:59 and end at 00:15. The show lasts about eight minutes and is launched from 58 points: 26 at the Funchal amphitheatre, 25 between Cais 8 and Praia Almirante Reis, 5 at sea and 2 on Porto Santo. Every hotel party is planned so that guests can watch the fireworks from an elevated terrace.

Savoy Palace: The Extravaganza gala in the Grand Ballroom opens with a welcome drink at 18:30 and a gala dinner at 19:30. Terreiro also starts with a welcome drink at 18:30 and dinner at 19:30. The Galáxia Skybar opens for party guests on the Shining Light package from 22:30. Guests who prefer to join later can choose a ticket for access after 00:15 with late night supper and open bar. The Crystal Clear package in Galáxia Skyfood (dinner plus access to the VIP terrace and premium area) is currently on a waiting list. The hotel has not named any DJs or artists. The evening before, a gala called Shine Bright Like a Diamond is scheduled, and on 1 January there is a New Year's brunch at Orchidaceae Atelier. Times and prices for these were not listed.

Hotel NEXT: The Midnight Mixtape party takes place at the Cloud Bar on the roof and starts at 23:00. It offers electronic music, open bar and late night supper until 02:00, plus access to the 7th floor rooftop for the fireworks. Alternatively, there is a gala dinner at 19:00 in the Network Lounge with live music, either on its own or combined with the party. No DJ names are given. The party may be moved indoors if the weather requires it.

The Reserve: The hotel promotes its New Year's Eve under the title A Diamond Night. Times, music and prices had not been published at the time of research; enquiries can be made directly with the hotel.

Royal Savoy: The hotel invites guests to a New Year's Eve dinner. Time, music and the exact price are not confirmed; the hotel page shows a figure of from 57 euros per person, which cannot be clearly linked to the New Year's Eve dinner. Please confirm with the hotel before booking.

Casino da Madeira and Pestana Casino Park: The last published casino gala offered a five course menu with selected wines, a champagne toast on the terrace for the fireworks and a party in the Copacabana and Garden rooms, with the Sarah Borges trio and the show The Peacock. The program for the turn of 2026 to 2027 was not confirmed. Pestana Casino Park already advertises an offer for welcoming 2027 but lists no program and no price yet.

Parque de Santa Catarina: The City of Funchal traditionally hosts a free New Year's Eve party in its largest municipal park. In the 2024/2025 edition, regional bands performed (including hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s), there was a casino show, and DJ Sil led the night after midnight until 03:00. The event also stayed in the park for the turn of 2025 to 2026. Whether and in what form it takes place in 2026/2027 was not confirmed at the time of research.

Clubs and bars: For the hours after the fireworks, Funchal has several well known addresses. None of these venues had published a New Year's Eve program for 2026/2027, so please ask about entry and opening hours directly.

• Vespas Club (Avenida Sá Carneiro): a Madeira nightlife institution since 1980 with three areas, the main club with international sounds, Jam with commercial music from the 70s, 80s and 90s, and Marginal with alternative music
• Soirée (Largo dos Varadouros): a microclub in a former sugar warehouse in the city centre, a terrace by day and a club in the evening with jazz, techno, hip hop and live music
• Trap Music Bar (Rua da Favila): several rooms with live music, deep house and a terrace with palm trees, close to the casino
• Dubai Club Madeira: a nightclub with a mixed music selection and a shisha bar
• 23 Vintage Bar: a dance bar playing hits from before the year 2000

On 1 January 2027, the Madeira Classical Orchestra performs a New Year's Concert at Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias. At midday, the Madeira Plunge also takes place, where participants jump into the sea for charity (Lido or Galo bathing complex, doors open at 10:00).

Tickets & Admission for the New Year's Eve Parties in Funchal

Savoy Palace (prices per person): Extravaganza in the Grand Ballroom 650 euros (575 euros if booked by the end of September), Terreiro 600 euros (525 euros by the end of September), Crystal Clear 1,400 euros (a window table with mountain views costs 300 euros extra, currently waiting list), Shining Light from 370 euros, VIP Access in the premium area 495 euros per adult and access after 00:15 with late night supper and open bar 215 euros. Children pay 50 percent of the adult price. The dress code is a dark suit or dinner jacket, and a long dress or evening gown. Book through the hotel website or by phone on +351 931 101 481.

Hotel NEXT (prices per person): gala dinner 230 euros, gala dinner plus party 370 euros, party only at the Cloud Bar 200 euros. Book through the hotel website or by phone on +351 291 205 700.

At both hotels, cancellations up to and including 30 November 2026 are not refundable, but the amount is issued as a voucher valid for one year. From 1 December 2026 there is neither a refund nor a voucher. Programs and menus may change without notice. For The Reserve, Royal Savoy, the casino and the clubs, no confirmed ticket prices were available at the time of research. The fireworks themselves are free to watch.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Funchal

• Book the hotel parties early; some packages such as Crystal Clear already have a waiting list, and from 1 December 2026 cancellations bring no refund at all.
• Plan your ride home in advance: in previous years traffic in Funchal was heavy on New Year's Eve and parking was limited. A taxi or a hotel within walking distance of your party is the easiest solution.
• The rooftop parties at Savoy Palace and Hotel NEXT depend on the weather and can be moved indoors. Pack a warm jacket, because evenings by the sea can be windy and cool; on New Year's Eve 2025 there were wind and rain warnings.
• If you would like to celebrate without a ticket, you can watch the free fireworks from the waterfront and viewpoints around the bay and then move on to a club.
• For clubs and bars, ask about entry, dress code and opening hours for New Year's Eve directly with the venue, since no programs have been published yet.
• The Christmas lights and festivities run from 1 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, so a longer stay is well worth considering.
