Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Prizren
On 31 December 2026 and 1 January 2027, Prizren welcomes the new year in its historic old town around Shadervan Square. The Ottoman-era setting of the Stone Bridge, Sinan Pasha Mosque and the Lumbardhi riverfront is usually dressed in festive lights. The official 2026/2027 stage lineup had not been published at the time of research; the night typically follows the established pattern of an open square gathering with music, a midnight countdown and a lively street atmosphere.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
Shadervan Square is the main public meeting point. In recent years the festive mood built from late afternoon and peaked after 20:00. Music usually comes from a small stage plus the cafes and bars around the fountain. Artist names, any official fireworks or drone display, and whether Kalaja Fortress will open for midnight views in 2026/2027 have not yet been confirmed. Check Municipality of Prizren announcements close to the date.
1 and 2 January 2027 are public holidays in Kosovo. Many offices and shops stay closed, while old-town cafes and restaurants often remain busy. Orthodox communities also mark the New Year according to the Julian calendar in mid-January; that is a separate tradition from the Gregorian New Year's Eve described here.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Prizren
Access to Shadervan Square and the public streets of the historic centre is free. There is usually no ticket for the open-air gathering. Costs apply only if you book a restaurant menu, a hotel gala, drinks or a private club night. Specific gala prices for 2026/2027 had not been released. Reserve dinner tables early, as riverside and square-side seats fill quickly.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Prizren
- The nearest airport is Pristina International Airport (about 75 km). Continue by taxi or via Pristina bus station; buses to Prizren take about 70 to 90 minutes and typically cost 5 to 6 euros.
- December and January evenings are cold, often near freezing, with possible snow. Wear layers, sturdy shoes and gloves.
- Old-town rooms are limited. Book accommodation early, especially for the nights of 30 December 2026 to 2 January 2027.
- In previous years the municipality restricted private fireworks except for a short midnight window. Follow the current local order and celebrate without illegal pyrotechnics or celebratory gunfire.
- Shadervan Square is pedestrian. Park outside the old town and walk the last stretch. Kosovo uses the euro; cards and cash are both common in the centre.
