Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Rotterdam

Rotterdam is one of the best-known places in the Netherlands to see in the new year. The centrepiece is traditionally Het Nationale Vuurwerk, the National Fireworks above the Erasmus Bridge, joined by club nights, sky-bar parties, harbour cruises and winter lighting in the city centre. Watching from the public quays along the Nieuwe Maas is usually free; dinners, cruises and club tickets are paid.

As of September 2026, private New Year's Eve offers for 31 December 2026 are already on sale, including Royal Spido's New Year’s Eve Cruise. The full official programme for the National Fireworks 2026/2027 is typically confirmed later in the year. In previous editions the show depended on municipal funding and weather; check hetnationalevuurwerk.nl closer to the date.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

31 December 2026 in Rotterdam revolves around the turn of the year on the river Maas. On the public quays the atmosphere builds through the evening; in recent years music started around 22:30, the shared countdown just before midnight and the fireworks at 00:00. The Erasmus Bridge itself is usually closed to the public from the afternoon or early evening. Strong viewing spots include Boompjeskade (often named as the best free location), Boompjes, Noordereiland and Wilhelminapier. Extra screens and speakers have been added on the quays in recent editions.

Paid programmes run in parallel. Spido’s 31 December 2026 cruise lists embarkation at 20:30 from Willemsplein 85, departure at 21:00 and a finish around 01:30. The Euromast combines dinner and a party with skyline views. Clubs typically open between 21:00 and 23:00 and run into the early morning. In early January 2027 the Rotterdam Philharmonic schedules New Year concerts at de Doelen (listed dates include 7 and 10 January 2027). Weather, safety and city decisions can change the public fireworks at short notice, so check official channels on the day.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Rotterdam

Watching from the public quays is free. Clubs, restaurants, viewpoints and boat parties charge admission. Recent published prices: Spido’s New Year’s Eve Cruise on 31 December 2026 is listed at 175 euros per adult and 80 euros for children aged 4–11 (snacks, drinks and a midnight glass of bubbles included; fireworks subject to weather and the city organisation). Euromast packages recently cost about 150 euros for the party only and 260 euros with a four-course dinner. Sky-bar arrangements were around 249 euros. Club tickets in the previous season often started between about 25 and 70 euros, with premium dinners higher. Prices for 2026/2027 may change; book early because popular venues sell out. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Rotterdam

  • Prefer train and metro over driving. Beurs and Wilhelminaplein are the closest metro stops to the quays. Leuvehaven has been closed in past editions; metro travel to the fireworks area was free in at least one recent year. Check 9292.nl on the day.
  • Late December in Rotterdam is wet, windy and cold. Wear waterproof shoes, warm layers and a windproof jacket; you may stand on open quays for several hours.
  • Hotels in Centrum, Kop van Zuid and the Scheepvaartkwartier book out quickly for New Year's Eve. Reserve rooms and dinners well in advance.
  • Consumer fireworks are banned year-round in Rotterdam. A national ban on private fireworks is expected to apply for 2026/2027 across the Netherlands; only professional displays remain. Do not bring your own fireworks.
  • Arrive early if you want a good quay spot. The bridge itself is not a viewing platform. Stay behind barriers and follow stewards. Strong wind can cancel the show.
