Welcome to the New Year's Eve Celebrations 2026/2027 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
On the night of 31 December 2026 into 1 January 2027, Santa Cruz de Tenerife becomes the island capital’s main stage for New Year’s Eve. The traditional open-air dance is held at Plaza de la Candelaria, next to Plaza de España and close to the harbour. Admission to the municipal celebration is free. Live orchestras, the twelve-grape ritual at the chimes and a low-noise fireworks display form the core of the night.

The official artist line-up for 31 December 2026 is usually released by the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in late autumn. The established pattern is clear: the municipal ball starts around 23:00 at Plaza de la Candelaria. DJs and orchestras play Latin and Canarian dance music before midnight. Many visitors follow mainland Spain’s televised chimes at 23:00 local time, then the local twelve chimes at 00:00. The open-air party typically continues into the early hours.
A children’s New Year event with midday chimes is normally held on the same square in late December; the 2026 date has not been published yet. On 1 January, the popular San Salitre open-water swim is a recurring New Year’s Day fixture. Private club nights near the Auditorio, Parque Marítimo or Club Náutico complement the public party but are separate, ticketed events.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
- Tenerife North Airport (TFN) is only a short transfer away; from Tenerife South (TFS) allow about one hour by car or bus. The tram links La Laguna with the city centre.
- Nights are mild, often 18 to 22°C, but windy by the harbour. Pack a light jacket, comfortable shoes, twelve grapes and a small bottle of cava.
- Hotels around Plaza de España, the Rambla and the waterfront sell out for New Year’s Eve. Book early and expect holiday rates.
- Downtown parking is limited; use out-of-centre car parks or public transport, as streets around the squares are often closed.
- Do not bring unofficial fireworks: the official display is planned. Keep valuables close, as the squares fill quickly after midnight.
