Festive lights and a Christmas market typically appear on Macedonia Square from mid-December. New Year’s Eve is the climax: in recent editions the main show started around 19:45 and continued past midnight. For 31 December 2026 the confirmed artist list is still pending; the City of Skopje normally releases it in December on skopje.gov.mk and official social channels. Expect a homegrown lineup rather than a large international headliner, plus a public countdown at midnight.

Note on fireworks: the 2025/2026 official display on the square was cancelled. Whether a city fireworks show returns for 2026/2027 has not been confirmed. Private fireworks are often discouraged. Treat concerts, lighting and the crowd countdown as the reliable core of the night, and re-check city announcements in December.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Skopje

Admission to the public concert on Macedonia Square is free. There is no official ticket office for the outdoor stage. Budget only for food and drinks on the square, plus any private New Year’s dinner or club event you book (restaurant packages vary widely, often from around 40 euro to well over 100 euro per person). Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Skopje

• Skopje International Airport (SKP) is about 22 km east of the centre. A taxi or pre-booked transfer takes roughly 25–30 minutes (about 20–35 euro); the airport bus is the budget option. From most downtown hotels you can walk to the square.
• Late December nights are often at or below freezing. Wear layers, a hat and sturdy shoes; Macedonia Square is an open, windy space.
• Book accommodation early near Macedonia Square, Macedonia Street or the Vardar waterfront. The Skopje Marriott and smaller properties on the square sell out first.
• Arrive before 19:30 if you want a view of the stage. Expect crowds, possible bag checks and limited space close to the monument and speakers.
• After midnight, taxis and ride-hailing apps get busy. Walk back if you stay nearby, or pre-arrange a car. Public buses on 1 January usually run on a reduced holiday timetable.
