Welcome to the New Year's Eve and New Year Celebrations 2026/2027 in The Hague

The Hague marks New Year's Eve 2026 and New Year's Day 2027 with public celebrations in the historic centre and on the coast. On 31 December 2026 the free Hague Countdown Moment at the Hofvijver is the city's main gathering, alongside the traditional beach bonfires in Scheveningen and Duindorp. On 1 January 2027 the Unox New Year's Dive is scheduled in the North Sea, weather and permits permitting.

Highlights & Attractions at New Year's Eve in The Hague

  • Free Hague Countdown Moment at the Hofvijver with a light and laser show against the Binnenhof skyline
  • Traditional vreugdevuren (joy bonfires) on Scheveningen Noorderstrand and Duindorp Zuiderstrand
  • Scheveningen boulevard, Pier and Kurhaus as a coastal New Year's meeting point
  • Club and hotel parties at venues such as Paard, PIP, Crazy Pianos, Millers, Westwood and the Kurhaus

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

The detailed line-up for 31 December 2026 had not been published as of early September 2026. In recent years the Hague Countdown Moment opened around 21:00 with arrival music, local DJs and a shared countdown with the mayor at midnight, followed by a short light and laser show over the Hofvijver and an afterparty until about 01:00. Admission is free. You may not bring your own glassware. Food and drinks are sold on site.

The beach bonfires are usually built from 27 to 31 December and lit on New Year's Eve. Lighting time depends on wind; strong coastal wind has led to earlier lighting in previous years. Club nights run in parallel across the centre and Scheveningen. On New Year's Day the Unox New Year's Dive in Scheveningen is listed for 1 January 2027: on-site registration from about 10:30, warm-up around 11:45, dive at 12:00. Always recheck denhaag.com shortly before the date, because coastal events can be cancelled in high wind, as happened in 2025 and 2026.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve The Hague

The public countdown at the Hofvijver and the beach bonfires are free. The Unox New Year's Dive was most recently priced at 4 euros, paid at registration on the day; advance booking was not available. Club and hotel parties in 2025/2026 typically ranged from about 30 to 55 euros, with hotel dinner packages around 85 euros. 2026/2027 prices and line-ups are released by venues in the autumn. Buy tickets via denhaag.com, club websites and hotel offers. Popular rooms and parties sell out early.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in The Hague

  • Prefer train and HTM over driving: The Hague Central Station is a short walk from the Hofvijver; trams and buses connect to Scheveningen. Night services often change on New Year's Eve.
  • Expect cold wind and rain on the North Sea coast. Wear layers, sturdy shoes and a waterproof jacket. For the dive, pack a towel and a full change of clothes.
  • Book hotels in the centre, Zeeheldenkwartier or Scheveningen as early as possible, and reserve club tickets as soon as they go on sale.
  • The municipality has previously offered selected garages at 10 euros for overnight parking including two HTM tickets. Check denhaag.nl to see if the scheme returns for 2026/2027.
  • Respect fireworks-free zones around hospitals, care homes and the inner city. The Hofvijver countdown is fireworks-free. Current rules are published on denhaag.nl under jaarwisseling.
