The Solothurner Biertage will take place from 29 April to 1 May 2027 in Solothurn, confirming the dates for the 23rd edition of the beer festival.

The Solothurner Biertage is considered Switzerland's most traditional and important beer festival. Held annually since 2002, it draws thousands of beer enthusiasts to the historic old town of Solothurn, centred around the Rythalle at Schanzenplatz.

What to expect at the beer festival in Solothurn

More than 50 independent Swiss small and medium sized breweries will present over 200 craft beers, ranging from classic lagers to creative specialties. Visitors can talk directly with brewers at the stands. Schanzenplatz also hosts a large beer garden with food stalls, plus live music and concerts on all three days. Drinks are served through a reusable cup system, with an official festival glass available as an alternative.

Programme, tickets and getting to Solothurn

Opening hours are Thursday from 16:00 to 23:30, Friday from 16:00 to 00:30 and Saturday from 14:00 to 00:30. On Friday evening, the festival traditionally continues with the Solothurner Biernacht at the Druckerei. Maps showing the individual brewery locations are published ahead of the event.

A day pass costs 15 CHF (about 16 EUR) and includes a reusable cup for a 2 CHF deposit, or a discount toward the official festival glass. Tickets are available online through the official website, at the evening box office and in presale; current sales points are listed on biertage.ch.

The Rythalle is a five minute walk from the train station via the Rötibrücke, or reachable by public transport to the Solothurn Baseltor stop. Visitors arriving by car can use the Parkhaus Baseltor opposite the venue; driving after drinking alcohol should of course be avoided. Since the festival draws large crowds, booking accommodation in the old town or surrounding area early is advisable. Extra Moonliner night buses run over the weekend to help visitors get home. Weatherproof clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended, since part of the festival takes place outdoors.
