About this event
The Weinfest Stadtamhof in Regensburg begins today, Friday 18 September, and runs through Sunday, 20 September 2026, with the festival starting at 17:00.
For three days, the Regensburg district of Stadtamhof, right on the Danube, turns into a lively wine mile. Between historic facades and cosy outdoor seating areas, regional winemakers and numerous food stalls invite visitors to enjoy wine, music and good food.
The wine stands pour regional as well as Italian wines, from red and rosé to white. On stage, bands and musicians alternate over the three days, with a musical range spanning rock and pop to blues, jazz and reggae. Street food stalls cater to smaller appetites with options from Langos to Baumstriezel and other international specialties, while the open terraces of local restaurants in Stadtamhof run their own accompanying programme. A children's programme with face painting and hands on activities is aimed at families, and overall the wine festival is considered calmer and more family friendly than large beer festivals. The setting is the historic old town of Stadtamhof, part of the UNESCO World Heritage listed old town of Regensburg.
On Friday the festival runs late into the night, while on Saturday and Sunday the stalls open already in the morning. Admission to the Weinfest Stadtamhof is free, as it is an open street festival with no ticket requirement; payment is made directly at the individual stands, with wine tastings typically sold by the glass alongside small dishes at standard prices. Stadtamhof sits directly opposite Regensburg's old town and is reachable on foot via the historic Stone Bridge. Since parking is scarce around the festival grounds, arriving by bus, train or bicycle is recommended. Mild late summer weather is expected in mid September, so a light jacket for the evenings is worth bringing, and visitors hoping for a seat on the terraces should arrive early in the evening.
