Welcome to the Nikolaussonntag 2026 in Rheine
On 6 December 2026 the Nikolaussonntag in Rheine invites visitors to a festive Advent day in the city centre. The St. Nicholas market takes place on the historic market square, shops open from 13:00 to 18:00 and St. Nicholas traditionally arrives by boat on the Ems around 17:00.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Nikolausmarkt on the historic market square is open on 6 December from 11:00 to 18:00. From 13:00 the shops in the city centre welcome Christmas shoppers. Around 17:00 St. Nicholas arrives with his entourage and torch divers at the Ems riverside and proceeds through the city centre to the market square, where he gives the traditional speech. The gastronomic winter market Emszauber on the Ems plateau offers additional places to linger.
