From November 27 to December 20, 2026, the town center of Nordhausen around the historic Rathausplatz turns into a festive Advent setting. With more than 1000 lights, decorated wooden huts and a broad program for families, the market is one of the most popular gathering spots in the southern Harz region during the pre Christmas season.

At the heart of the event is Rathausplatz, centered on the Roland statue, the symbol of the former free imperial city, together with Nikolaiplatz and Blasiikirchplatz. The market is open Sunday through Thursday from 1pm to 8pm, and Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 9pm, with food and drink stalls opening as early as 11am.
