Welcome to the Nuremberg Christmas Markets 2026 in Nuremberg
The famous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt runs from 27 November to 24 December 2026 on the historic Hauptmarkt. One of the oldest and most renowned Christmas markets in the world, it transforms the Old Town into the “Little Town of Wood and Cloth” with around 180 traditional wooden stalls. It is complemented by the Children’s Christmas Market, the Sister Cities Market and other winter highlights in the surrounding squares.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The main market is open daily from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm (until 2:00 pm on 24 December). The Christkind regularly visits the markets and invites children to story times and free rides. Additional concerts, guided tours and the Sternenhaus cultural program complete the experience. The atmosphere is defined by the scent of mulled wine, roasted almonds and gingerbread against the backdrop of the illuminated Old Town and Imperial Castle.
Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt 2026
The classic world-famous market on the Hauptmarkt takes place from 27 November to 24 December 2026. Expect traditional Christmas items such as gold-foil angels, nativity scenes, tree decorations, candles and crafts, plus culinary specialties. Entry is free. Opening ceremony with prologue on 27 November at 5:30 pm.
Markt der Partnerstädte (Sister Cities Market) 2026
Located on Rathausplatz next to the main market, this international market runs from 27 November to 23 December 2026. Stalls from Nuremberg’s partner cities and friendship towns offer products, crafts and specialties. Proceeds often support charitable projects. Opening hours largely match the main market.
Nürnberger Kinderweihnacht (Children’s Christmas Market) 2026
On Hans-Sachs-Platz the family-focused market runs from 27 November to 30 December 2026. Highlights include a nostalgic multi-level carousel, mini Ferris wheel, steam train and hands-on booths for baking, crafting and candle-making. The Christkind invites children for free rides on Tuesdays to Fridays at 2:30 pm. Open until 2:00 pm on 24 December, closed on 25 December, then reduced hours until 30 December.
Lebkuchenmarkt Nuremberg 2026
Nuremberg is the home of protected geographical indication Nuremberg Lebkuchen. Throughout the 2026 Advent season numerous stalls and specialist shops (including traditional producers) focus on high-quality Elisenlebkuchen and other gingerbread specialties. The scent and variety define the entire Christkindlesmarkt and Old Town experience.
The World’s Largest Feuerzangenbowle 2026
Located between the Fleischbänke at the Fleischbrücke / Pegnitz, this unique attraction runs from 27 November to 31 December 2026. A 3.40-metre-high cauldron holding 9,000 litres, open flames, snacks and projections from the classic film create a special atmosphere. Perfect for warming up and celebrating through New Year’s Eve.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Nuremberg
- Best arrival by public transport: U-Bahn station Lorenzkirche or bus line 36 to Hauptmarkt stop; Old Town parking is limited and expensive.
- Warm, weatherproof clothing and comfortable shoes are essential – expect cold, wet and windy conditions; gloves help when holding mulled wine cups.
- Book accommodation early, especially for weekends and the opening week; hotels and guesthouses in the Old Town or near the main station are ideal.
