Welcome to the Opera op de Parade 2027 in 's-Hertogenbosch
Opera op de Parade 2027 takes place on Tuesday 15 June and Wednesday 16 June 2027 on De Parade, the square in the heart of ’s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch). Opera Zuid, Philzuid (philharmonie zuidnederland) and Theater aan de Parade stage this free open-air festival together. Since 2007 it has been the large outdoor opera event of the southern Netherlands, set at the foot of Sint-Jan’s Cathedral. Exact times and the 2027 programme have not yet been published on the official website; in 2026 the main programme started at 20:30.
Highlights & Attractions at Opera op de Parade in 's-Hertogenbosch
- Two free summer evenings outdoors: Tuesday 15 June and Wednesday 16 June 2027, in the historic centre.
- A joint production by Opera Zuid, the orchestra Philzuid and Theater aan de Parade, which stands right on the square.
- Professional soloists and orchestra – opera and classical music for a wide audience, with no admission charge.
- A format used in recent years: one audience sing-along (Opera Singalong) and one fully staged opera. The 2027 repertoire has not been announced.
- In 2026 the audience sang with Philzuid, soloists from the International Vocal Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch (IVC) and Brabant Koor; the second night was Chabrier’s opera L’Étoile.
- Setting: De Parade, with the nearly 700-year-old Sint-Jan behind the stage, café terraces around the square and several thousand visitors.
- Open to everyone: no prior knowledge required. At the last sing-along, lyrics were shown on screens, and the festival presents itself as being for all.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
The organisers have asked visitors to note 15 and 16 June 2027 on operaopdeparade.nl. A detailed programme, cast and confirmed clock times for 2027 are not on the site yet. The usual shape is two different evenings: a participatory sing-along, with the audience joining orchestra, choir and soloists on well-known opera and musical numbers, and a fully staged opera by Opera Zuid. In 2026, Tuesday was the sing-along (hosted by Jamai Loman) and Wednesday was Emmanuel Chabrier’s L’Étoile. The same order and the same works are not confirmed for 2027.
In 2026 the main programme began at 20:30 on both nights; VisitBrabant listed the window through midnight. Before the sing-along there was a short warm-up from about 19:45, and the square filled from late afternoon. Expect a similar rhythm in 2027 until the website locks the times. Light rain did not stop the concert in previous years; in severe weather the organisers decide on site.
Tickets & Admission for Opera op de Parade 's-Hertogenbosch
Admission to Opera op de Parade is free. You do not need a ticket, and there is no official ticket sale for the square. The site operaopdeparade.nl calls it the free opera festival of the south. In 2026 visitors could optionally donate from 5 euro and receive a pin in return – that was support, not an entry fee. Cafés around the square charge for their own tables; the concert itself stays free. Programme updates appear only on the official website.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in 's-Hertogenbosch
- Getting there: ’s-Hertogenbosch Centraal is about a 15-minute walk from Theater aan de Parade and the square. The centre is easy by bike. Street parking in the centre is paid; nearby garages include Parkeergarage Sint-Jan, Wolvenhoek and Sint-Josephstraat. Park-and-ride sites on the edge of town connect into the centre.
- Weather and clothing: June evenings in Den Bosch are usually mild, cooler after sunset, and showers are possible. Bring a light jacket and a rain poncho. Large umbrellas can block the view for people behind you.
- Where to stay: Mid-June, the historic centre around Sint-Jan books up. Reserve a hotel or guesthouse within walking distance of De Parade early. There is no official festival campsite.
- Getting a spot: A folding chair, a blanket and a small picnic are the usual kit. Arrive well before 20:30 for a clear view. Own chairs are allowed on parts of the square – follow the stewards. Cafés and restaurants line the square.
- Before you go: Check operaopdeparade.nl close to the dates in case the time or programme changes. Entry stays free, and the square itself is not reserved in advance.
