Welcome to the Historic Christmas Market Osnabruck 2026
The Historic Christmas Market in Osnabruck is one of the most beautiful in northern Germany and takes place from 23 November to 22 December 2026 daily from 12:00 to 21:00 in the old town between the Town Hall, St. Mary’s Church and St. Peter’s Cathedral. Over 100 stalls, traditional specialities and unique attractions invite visitors to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the City of Peace. Admission is free.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The market stretches across the market square and cathedral forecourt and offers a relatively quiet, “silent” atmosphere without constant loud music. In addition to the historic carousel and record-breaking music box, there are rotating craft stalls and the “Wechselstube” featuring a new exhibitor each week. Culinary highlights include mulled wine, roasted almonds, cheese grillers and the local Christmas sausage. Families will find child-friendly offerings and the daily Advent calendar.

The market is largely barrier-free and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

In the historic centre, a fairy-tale and family-oriented atmosphere complements the main market. Children’s programmes, the Advent calendar and lovingly designed stalls create a magical world for the whole family. The dates match the main market (23 November – 22 December 2026).
Other Christmas Markets and Winter Events in Osnabruck 2026
Besides the large Historic Christmas Market there are smaller and themed offerings. The Christmas Market at Osnabruck Zoo takes place on selected December weekends and combines market stalls with Zoo-Lights and a family programme (please check exact weekends on the zoo website). In addition, the Christmas Magic at Weißenburger Platz offers a cosy atmosphere with live music. Regional markets in the surrounding area (e.g. Melle) complete the programme.
Tickets & Admission for Christmas Markets Osnabruck
Admission to the Historic Christmas Market is free. Food, drinks and rides (carousel, possibly Ferris wheel) are paid on site. The Christmas Market at the Zoo has reduced day tickets on event days (approx. €10–15, exact prices on the zoo website). Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Osnabruck
- Travel: Arrive by train at Osnabruck Central Station (short walk to the old town) or by car – use the Altstadt-Garage, Stadthaus-Garage or Nikolai-Garage car parks. During the market Domhof and parts of Hasestraße are closed to traffic.
- Clothing: Warm, weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended – the market is mostly outdoors and can be cold and wet.
- Accommodation: Book hotels or guesthouses in the city centre or old town early, as the Advent season is very popular.
- Tip: Visit on weekdays or in the early afternoon to avoid crowds and experience the Advent calendar opening at 17:00.
