Welcome to the Salzburg Easter Festival 2027
From 20 to 29 March 2027, Salzburg once again becomes one of the most important stages in classical music. The Salzburg Easter Festival, founded by Herbert von Karajan in 1967, enters its second year with the Berliner Philharmoniker as resident orchestra under chief conductor Kirill Petrenko. At the center stands the second part of the new "Der Ring des Nibelungen": "Die Walküre", directed by Kirill Serebrennikov. Due to construction work in Salzburg's Festival District, the opera performances take place at the Felsenreitschule.

Program
Two subscriptions structure the ten day festival. Subscription I includes the opera premiere on 20 March and the three following concerts on 21, 22 and 24 March plus a dance performance on 23 March. Subscription II covers the concerts on 26, 27 and 28 March as well as the opera performance on Easter Monday, 29 March. Under conductor Lahav Shani, the program also includes Claude Debussy's "Prélude à l'après midi d'un faune" and Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition". The chamber concert series with members of the Berliner Philharmoniker is dedicated entirely to Ludwig van Beethoven this year.
Tickets
Patrons and Circle members can already pre order tickets (deadline: 21 October 2026). Individual tickets for "Die Walküre" as well as the orchestral concert and Choral Concert I go on sale from 1 October 2026, exclusively at the ticket office counter at Wiener Philharmoniker Gasse 3, limited to a maximum of two subscriptions per person. From 2 November 2026, a discounted allocation becomes available for everyone under 27 through the Ticket Gretchen app. Prices vary widely by category; for the 2026 season the most expensive opera ticket cost 570 euros, with lower concert categories priced well below that.
Visitor Tips
- Book tickets early, as the number of available seats is limited due to construction in the Festival District.
- The ticket office at Wiener Philharmoniker Gasse 3 is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm, and during the festival daily until one hour before each performance.
- Given the length of the operas and concert programs, the festival is aimed mainly at an adult audience.
- Pack warm clothing, as late winter in Salzburg can still be cold.
- Those under 27 should register with the Ticket Gretchen app for discounted tickets.
