Program

Over four days, Epano Skala turns into a lively meeting point for locals and visitors alike. At the centre of it all is ouzo, a Protected Designation of Origin product of Lesbos; visitors can sample various labels at the distillers' stalls and learn more about the island's traditional distillation methods. The tastings are accompanied by performances from local music and dance groups, along with a wide selection of mezedes. The festival reflects the shared table, sociability and hospitality that have long defined how ouzo is enjoyed on Lesbos.

Tickets

Admission to the Ouzo Festival is free. Tastings and food at the individual stalls are paid for directly on site.

Visitor Tips

  • Evenings are the liveliest time, as most events start after dark.
  • Epano Skala is within walking distance of Mytilene's harbour and easy to reach on foot.
  • Booking accommodation in advance is recommended, since the festival draws many visitors from Greece and abroad.
  • A visit to the island's many ouzeries and distilleries is worthwhile beyond the festival days too.
  • Bring enough cash, as many stalls do not accept card payments.
