Event Details

Welcome to Parkpop in The Hague

Parkpop was The Hague’s major free open-air pop festival, traditionally held on a Sunday in June in Zuiderpark. It ran from 1981 to 2019 at that park; the 40th and final edition on 12 June 2022 took place on the Malieveld. There was no 2023 edition. In December 2025 the city and the local pop sector confirmed that a large-scale free restart in the old format is not financially viable. No Parkpop is announced for 2026 or 2027.

Highlights & Attractions at Parkpop in The Hague

  • One of Europe’s largest free pop festivals – peak years drew hundreds of thousands of visitors to Zuiderpark.
  • Focus on pop and rock: Dutch acts and international names, with a strong role for Hague and national talent.
  • Typically a single Sunday in June (often the last), with programming from midday into the evening.
  • Multiple stages in the park, picnic atmosphere, food stalls and a mixed, all-ages crowd.
  • At times expanded with formats such as Parkpop Saturday Night (paid eve) and family-oriented activities.
  • For about forty years an important stage and springboard for artists from The Hague.
  • Discontinued since 2023; the city now prioritises strengthening existing festivals (including Bevrijdingsfestival, The Life I Live, Kaderock and Sniester).

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

Historically the day ran from early afternoon into the late evening. Line-ups mixed established Dutch pop and rock acts with international headliners and local talent. The final edition on 12 June 2022 at Malieveld included UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, DI-RECT, Maan and Donnie XL. There is no confirmed 2027 programme or date – the festival has been officially discontinued.

For ongoing open-air pop in The Hague, follow the programmes of the festivals the municipality and pop sector are supporting, and the paid concert series Zuiderpark Live at Zuiderparktheater. Those are separate events, not Parkpop.

Tickets & Admission for Parkpop The Hague

Parkpop was free throughout its run – no ticket required. Food and drinks at stalls were paid. Because the festival is not continuing, there are no tickets or 2027 prices. The former site parkpop.nl remains as an archive and notice of the end of the event.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in The Hague

  • Getting to Zuiderpark: well served by tram and bus; on past festival days crowds were very large – arrive early and use public transport.
  • Weather in June in The Hague is often mild and changeable; layers and light rain protection were sensible at earlier editions.
  • Accommodation: book early around major events – Centraal Station, Scheveningen and the city centre are typical bases.
  • Check status: do not expect official 2027 Parkpop dates on city or organiser sites; if anything is promoted under the name “Parkpop”, verify that it is a genuine new project.
  • Alternatives: Bevrijdingsfestival The Hague, The Life I Live, Kaderock, Sniester and paid open-air shows (e.g. Zuiderpark Live) continue to offer pop and related genres in the city.
