Welcome to the Porto Marathon 2026

On Sunday, 8 November 2026, Porto once again becomes a stage for runners from around the world. The EDP Porto Marathon celebrates its 22nd edition, following the Atlantic coastline and the Douro River past landmarks such as the D. Luís Bridge. Start and finish are both located in Parque da Cidade do Porto, the large city park near the coast.

  • Flat, fast, World Athletics certified course (AIMS member, Boston qualifying eligible)
  • Start at SEA LIFE Porto, finish in Parque da Cidade at the Queimódromo
  • Route along the Atlantic coast, the Douro riverside and across the D. Luís Bridge
  • Water stations every 5 km per international regulations

Program

All three races start at 8:00 AM. The marathon begins near SEA LIFE Porto (Via do Castelo do Queijo) and loops along the coastal Avenida do Brasil, follows the Douro riverside, crosses the historic bridge and returns to the finish in Parque da Cidade. The full marathon has a 6 hour cutoff; the shorter 15 km and 6 km races start at the same place and time but follow their own routes. Race kits are handed out on 6 and 7 November at the Alfândega do Porto Congress Centre; on Saturday evening, 1 November, a free Fado concert is held there for all runners.

Tickets

Registration works on a first come, first served basis through the official website: marathon entry costs around 65 euros until 31 March, around 70 euros until 31 August, around 80 euros until 30 October, and around 100 euros on site at the expo. The shorter distances are generally cheaper. Since the early price tiers tend to sell out ahead of time, early registration is worthwhile.

Visitor Tips

  • Collect race kits on time on 6 or 7 November at the Alfândega do Porto Congress Centre.
  • Pack for mild, damp November weather; expect around 13°C and a real chance of rain at the start.
  • Parque da Cidade offers showers plus a massage and recovery area near the finish.
  • Good spectator spots include the route along Avenida do Brasil and the area around the D. Luís Bridge.
  • Book accommodation near the coast (Foz do Douro/Matosinhos) early, as the race weekend fills up fast.
