Welcome to New Year's Eve in Portorož & Piran 2026/2027
Ringing in 2027 on the Slovenian Adriatic means a compact mix of free concerts, hotel galas, club nights and fireworks. Piran welcomes the new year with a free show on Tartini Square, while Portorož follows with parties, a gala scene and fireworks on New Year's Day. Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
Piran, Tartini Square: On New Year's Eve the square belongs to Danijela and Tequila Band. The concert starts at 21:00 with free admission and is organised by Avditorij Portorož. The Festive Market on the square runs from mid December 2026 to early January 2027, a good place for mulled wine and snacks before the show.
Portorož, New Year's afternoon: On New Year's Day 2027, Rok Ferengja and Rok'n'Band play from 4:30 PM at Overseas Brigades Square, followed by fireworks at 6:00 PM. Entry is free.
Hotel galas in Portorož: Kempinski Palace Portorož traditionally hosts gala evenings in the Crystal Hall and the Sofija restaurant. In past years these followed a masquerade theme (Vienna and Venice) with live music. The LifeClass hotels (Hotel Slovenija, Grand Hotel Portorož, Hotel Riviera, Wellness Hotel Apollo and Hotel Neptun) offer gala dinners with live music and a show act; in the 2025/2026 edition the evening began with a champagne reception at 7:00 PM and dinner at 8:00 PM. Hotel Piran in Piran has offered a multi course menu followed by a toast on its terrace and a walk to Tartini Square. The individual hotel programmes for 2026/2027 had not been published at the time of research.
Clubs and nightlife: Club Pergola (Obala 20, Portorož) is listed by the tourist board as open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, with DJ parties and themed nights. No dedicated New Year's Eve programme has been announced yet. Grand Casino Portorož (Obala 75a) is open daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 AM, and no New Year's programme is published either. The beach clubs in the marina, such as Smashy Beach Club, operate in summer only and are not an option in winter.
New Year's sea plunge: The traditional Novoletni skok v morje takes place on New Year's Day on the coast. The date, time and exact location for 2027 have not been confirmed yet.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve in Portorož & Piran
The Piran concert, the New Year's afternoon with fireworks in Portorož and the Festive Market are all free. Hotel gala dinners are paid and must be booked in advance directly with each hotel; 2026/2027 prices have not been published. In earlier editions they ranged roughly from 90 to 335 euros per person depending on hotel and menu, and many sold out weeks ahead. No confirmed New Year's Eve prices exist yet for Club Pergola or the casino. Please check with the organisers shortly before the event.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Portorož & Piran
- Piran and Portorož are only a few kilometres apart; plan for a taxi or a stay within walking distance, as the old town of Piran is largely closed to cars
- Winters on the coast are mild but nights are windy and cool, so dress warmly for the open air concert
- Gala dinners and rooms around the turn of the year fill up quickly, so book early
- Staying at a Portorož hotel makes it easy to combine the gala, the New Year's brunch and the fireworks
- Clubs on the Obala usually check ID at the door, so carry a valid document
