Welcome to the Quedlinburg Christmas Market 2026 in Quedlinburg
The Quedlinburg Christmas Market takes place from 25 November to 22 December 2026 on the historic market square in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage city. Nestled among more than 1,300 half-timbered houses from six centuries, it ranks among the most beautiful Christmas markets in Saxony-Anhalt. Daily from 11:00 to 20:00 (Friday until 22:00, Saturday 10:00 to 22:00), more than 50 stalls offer handicrafts, regional specialities and mulled wine.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The main market on the market square forms the centre of Advent City Quedlinburg. After the regular market ends, the Christmas pyramid remains open until 6 January 2027. Numerous special formats complement the offer and make Quedlinburg one of the most original Advent destinations in Germany.
Advent in the Courtyards
On the first three Advent weekends (28/29 November, 5/6 December and 12/13 December 2026) 19 to 25 historic courtyards that remain closed all year open their gates. Each courtyard has its own theme and offers handicrafts, regional specialities, readings and acoustic concerts. Opening hours Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00. This format is regarded as Quedlinburg’s most original Advent experience.
Living Advent Calendar
From 1 to 23 December 2026 a different door opens daily at 16:30 (on 24 December at 13:00) on the houses of the castle hill. Meeting point is Finkenherd 1/2. Choirs, music, acting scenes and stories turn Germany’s largest Advent calendar into a special experience for young and old.
Advent in the Stiftshof Gernrode
From 11 to 13 December 2026 the Stiftshof at the Collegiate Church of St. Cyriacus in Gernrode transforms into an atmospheric Advent market. Friday 16:00–22:00, Saturday 14:00–22:00, Sunday 11:00–19:00. Programme featuring brass music, choir performances, craft activities, organ music and a visit from Santa Claus.
Grubenlichtermarkt Bad Suderode
On 28 November 2026 from 14:00 to 20:00 the Grubenlichtermarkt takes place in the spa park of Bad Suderode. The highlight is the state miners’ parade with pit lamps and torches, recalling the region’s mining tradition.
Light Forest at the Mathildenbrunnen
Parallel to the main market from 25 November to 22 December 2026 a magical light installation with small catering for guests shines at the Mathildenbrunnen in the historic New Town. Opening hours: Monday–Thursday 14:00–20:00, Friday–Saturday 11:00–22:00, Sunday 11:00–20:00.
Tickets & Admission for Quedlinburg Christmas Market Quedlinburg
Admission to the Quedlinburg Christmas Market, the Living Advent Calendar and the Light Forest is free of charge. At Advent in the Courtyards and individual courtyard events a small donation is sometimes requested. Food, drinks and handmade items are available for purchase. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Quedlinburg
- Arrival by train to Quedlinburg is convenient; the market square is central and easily reachable on foot. By car, parking is available on the outskirts – the Old Town is partly traffic-calmed during Advent.
- Warm, weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended – the lanes of the half-timbered town can be slippery when wet.
- Book accommodation in the Old Town or on the castle hill very early, as the Advent weekends are extremely popular.
- Combine the market visit with Advent in the Courtyards and the Living Advent Calendar in the evening for the full experience.
- On the courtyard weekends arrive especially early to explore the courtyards at leisure and avoid crowds.
