The Christmas markets in Regensburg 2026 transform the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town and its surroundings into a magical Advent atmosphere. From mid-November until just before Christmas, several distinct markets offer traditional crafts, regional food and festive lights. The main season runs from 19 November to 23 December 2026.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The individual markets have slightly different opening periods and hours. The Christkindlmarkt on Neupfarrplatz runs from 23 November to 23 December 2026 (Sun–Wed 10 am–8 pm, Thu–Sat 10 am–9 pm). The Romantic Christmas Market at Thurn und Taxis Palace is open from 20 November to 23 December 2026 (closed on 22 November) and features evening hours with fire pits and a children’s program. The Lucrezia Market takes place from 27 November to 23 December 2026 and combines arts and crafts with live music and exhibitions. The Advent Market at Katharinenspital and the Princely Christkindlmarkt in Dörnbergpark complete the offer with cozy and family-friendly atmospheres. Daily music programs, St. Nicholas visits and culinary treats shape the festive mood.
Regensburger Christkindlmarkt on Neupfarrplatz 2026
The traditional and oldest Christmas market in the city takes place from 23 November to 23 December 2026 on Neupfarrplatz. Expect classic Bavarian crafts, pottery, candles, Christmas decorations as well as regional specialties such as blueberry mulled wine, apple mulled wine and original Regensburg sausages. Admission is free. Opening hours: Sunday to Wednesday 10 am–8 pm, Thursday to Saturday 10 am–9 pm.
Romantic Christmas Market at Schloss Thurn und Taxis 2026
From 20 November to 23 December 2026 (closed on 22 November) the palace courtyard turns into one of Bavaria’s most beautiful Christmas markets. Open fire pits, high-quality crafts, a children’s magic forest with nostalgic rides and a varied cultural program await visitors. Admission is charged (adults approx. €6.50–€13.50 depending on the day). Tickets are available online at wm-tut.de.
Lucrezia Market 2026
The Lucrezia Market, the arts and crafts Christmas market, runs from 27 November to 23 December 2026 on Haidplatz and Kohlenmarkt. High-quality handmade items, silver and gold jewelry, ceramics, textiles plus a cultural program on two stages and art exhibitions in the Thon-Dittmer Palace define this market. Admission is free. Opening hours: Sunday–Thursday 11 am–8 pm, Friday and Saturday 11 am–9 pm.
Advent Market at Katharinenspital 2026
Located right by the Stone Bridge and the Danube, the Advent Market in the Spitalgarten offers a particularly romantic and family-friendly atmosphere with views of the cathedral from 19/23 November to 20/23 December 2026. Handmade products, mulled wine and a daily music program are available. Admission is free. Typical opening hours: Monday–Friday 4 pm–10 pm, Saturday 11 am–10 pm, Sunday 11 am–9 pm.
Princely Christkindlmarkt in Dörnbergpark 2026
In Dörnbergpark and around the Rosarium the Princely Christkindlmarkt runs from 19 November to 20 December 2026. It is known for a quieter, more elegant atmosphere and selected crafts – ideal for visitors seeking a calmer experience away from the Old Town crowds.
Christmas Magic of Social Initiatives 2026
On Bismarckplatz social projects present handmade products from 20 November to 23 December 2026. This market supports social institutions and offers a warm, community-oriented atmosphere.
Tickets & Admission for Regensburg Christmas Markets
Most markets (Christkindlmarkt Neupfarrplatz, Lucrezia Market, Advent Market Katharinenspital, Princely Christkindlmarkt and Christmas Magic of Social Initiatives) are free of charge. The Romantic Christmas Market at Thurn und Taxis Palace requires tickets: adults pay between €6.50 and €13.50 depending on the weekday, children (6–16 years) €3.50 (often free on Sundays), children under 6 always free. Discounts for seniors, late-evening visitors and groups are available. Best to buy tickets online at wm-tut.de.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Regensburg
- Arrive by train if possible: From the main station all markets are within a 10–20 minute walk. Parking in the Old Town is limited – use park-and-ride or public transport.
- November and December can be cold and wet – wear warm, waterproof clothing, sturdy shoes and gloves.
- Book hotels and guesthouses in the Old Town and near the cathedral early, as the Advent season is very popular.
- Allow at least a full day to visit several markets. Start at the Lucrezia Market, continue to Neupfarrplatz and finish in the evening at Thurn und Taxis Palace.
- Carry cash: some stalls accept only cash. Be sure to try the blueberry mulled wine and the original Regensburg sausage.
