Welcome to the Retzer Weinlesefest 2026 in Retz
From September 24 to 27, 2026, the main square of the wine town Retz in the Weinviertel region once again becomes the heart of one of Austria's most traditional wine festivals. Now in its 71st edition, the town of Retz invites visitors to four days of open air wine taverns, live music, wine tastings and a colorful program for all ages.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Retz
The festival opens at 17:00 on Thursday and Friday with the wine market and open air taverns, while Saturday and Sunday already begin at 10:00. Highlights include the official opening ceremony on Friday, the music accompanied morning gathering over the weekend and the festive open air mass on Sunday. Across the four days, various music and brass bands, a vintage tractor meeting and culinary offerings from the local tourism school keep the program going from morning to night.
Tickets and Admission for the Retzer Weinlesefest 2026
Single day tickets range from about 9 to 13 euros depending on the day, with online presale slightly cheaper than the box office on site. A four day ticket costs 20 euros in presale and 22 euros at the box office. Children up to and including 14 years enter free. Presale opens in August 2026 through the Retzer Land visitor information office on Hauptplatz 30 and online.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Retz
- Accommodation over the festival weekend is usually only bookable for two or more nights, so reserving early is strongly advised
- Retz can be reached by train and bus as well as by car, with special parking arrangements in place during the festival weekend
- Evenings can turn cool by late September, so bringing a warm layer for the night program is a good idea
- The historic wine cellars beneath the main square and the Retz windmill are worth a visit beyond the festival itself
