Rhine in Flames 2027 – The 50th Anniversary at Bingen and Rüdesheim
On Saturday, 3 July 2027, one of the most spectacular nights on the Rhine returns: Rhine in Flames celebrates its 50th anniversary between Bingen and Rüdesheim. Since 1977, this unique fireworks event has attracted visitors from around the world to the romantic Middle Rhine Valley. Due to the anniversary, demand is expected to be exceptionally high and ship capacities are limited.

Program & Event Flow
Illuminated ships depart in the early evening from Bingen or Rüdesheim and travel upstream toward the Loreley region. At the village of Trechtingshausen the convoy turns and passes seven fireworks displays, blazing castles and illuminated rock faces on the return journey. The evening culminates in the grand finale fireworks fired from a ferry in the middle of the Rhine between Bingen and Rüdesheim. Ships return to their home ports around midnight. On the banks, wine festivals, food stalls and restaurants provide the atmosphere before and after the event.
Weekend Program
Guests arriving on Friday, 2 July 2027 can join a guided walking tour of the famous Drosselgasse at 5:30 PM or board a party ship for a sunset cruise with buffet and DJ from 6:00 PM. On Saturday morning, a guided tasting tour at the Asbach Visitor Centre begins at 10:00 AM, and the OHLIG Sparkling Wine Cellar offers tours with tastings from 11:00 AM. The Winzerexpress wine train departs at 11:00 AM for a leisurely ride through the Old Town and vineyards.
Tickets & Boat Trips
Advance ticket sales for the Rhine in Flames 2027 boat trips from Rüdesheim are already underway. Given the anniversary year, tickets are selling quickly and capacities are strictly limited. Options include ships with two-course dinner packages and all-inclusive boats such as the EUREKA, featuring a champagne reception, large buffet and DJ on board. Group packages including overnight stays are available on request from the Rüdesheim Tourist AG. Tickets for departures from Bingen are available through Bingen Tourismus + Kongress GmbH.
Visitor Tips
- Book early: The 50th anniversary edition is expected to sell out; ship capacities are limited.
- Travel by train or bus is strongly recommended as parking near the Rhine banks is very scarce.
- A ferry service between Bingen and Rüdesheim runs until approximately 1:00 AM.
- Only from a boat on the river can you experience all seven fireworks displays in full.
- Book accommodation in Rüdesheim, Bingen and surrounding areas as early as possible.
- Bring a warm layer; evenings on the Rhine can be cool even in July.
