Rhine in Flames in Oberwesel 2026
On Saturday, 12 September 2026, Oberwesel once again becomes the stage for the "Night of a Thousand Fires". Rhine in Flames is the last of five major fireworks and ship parade events along the Middle Rhine and is considered one of the most spectacular; the backdrop is formed by the Loreley rock, Oberwesel's medieval town walls and a parade of illuminated ships.

Program
The traditional wine market opens on Oberwesel's market square already at 1:00 PM, with winegrowers pouring more than 150 Middle Rhine wines from their stalls, accompanied by live music from various bands. At 5:00 PM, the special ships depart from Oberwesel and form a large parade heading downstream, passing the legendary Seven Maidens rocks and the Loreley. Around 9:20 PM, the illumination of the historic townscape begins with Bengal lights, followed by the evening's highlight: the music synchronized fireworks display starting at around 9:30 PM above the Loreley rock.
Tickets
The land program, including the wine market, live music and views of the illumination and fireworks from the riverbank, is free of charge. For those who want to experience the spectacle exclusively from the water, seats on one of the special ships can be booked; ship tickets start at around 87 euros and vary depending on the ship class and catering package. - Arrive early to secure a good spot along the riverbank for the illumination.
- Book ship tickets well in advance, as popular sailings sell out quickly.
