Rockwave Festival – Greece's Premier Open-Air Rock Festival
The Rockwave Festival is one of Greece's most celebrated and long-running music festivals. Since 1996, it has brought international rock, metal and alternative artists to the Terra Vibe Park stage in Malakasa, around 40 km north of Athens at the foot of Mount Parnitha. Produced by X La La La (DiDi Music), the festival draws up to 15,000 visitors from across the world each summer.
Venue & Stages
The heart of Rockwave is the Terra Vibe Park, a 40-hectare open-air concert ground shaped like a natural bowl, offering excellent sightlines from every angle. In select editions, the festival programme also extends to iconic Athenian venues such as the Odeon of Herodes Atticus at the foot of the Acropolis and the Moni Lazariston in Thessaloniki, forming a broader cultural network across Greece.
2026 Lineup
The 2026 edition marked the festival's 30th anniversary and centred on avant-garde, political hip-hop and experimental sounds. On 20 June 2026, the Terra Vibe Park stage featured:
- Kneecap (headliner) – the Belfast Irish-language hip-hop trio on their Fenian Tour
- Fundracar
- Twinsanity x Invisible Sounds x DJ Micro
Alongside the main stage, Einstürzende Neubauten performed at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens and at Moni Lazariston in Thessaloniki. Greek music icon Fotini Galani also appeared as part of the festival programme.
Festival History
Rockwave was founded in 1996 by Nikos Loris under the name "Rock of Gods". Since 2004, Terra Vibe Park has been its permanent home. Over the decades, the festival has hosted world-class artists including Iron Maiden, Arctic Monkeys, Robbie Williams, The Prodigy, Judas Priest, Cypress Hill and Alice Cooper. The 2026 edition celebrated the festival's 30th anniversary.
Tickets
Tickets for the Terra Vibe Park main event are available via the official platform more.com. The 2026 pricing structure was as follows:
- €33 – General Admission
- €38 – GA with motorcycle parking
- €43 – GA with car parking
Tickets for additional venue events such as the Odeon of Herodes Atticus are sold separately at different price points.
Getting There
- Terra Vibe Park is located at the 37th km of the Athens–Lamia National Road in Malakasa, around 40 km north of central Athens.
- By car or motorcycle: Direct access via the national road; on-site parking available as a ticket add-on.
- By train: Malakasa railway station is within walking distance of the venue; trains run from Athens Larissa Station.
- By bus: Festival shuttle buses are typically organised from central Athens for the event days.
Camping
Rockwave Festival offers on-site camping at Terra Vibe Park. Tents are welcome; pack lightweight gear suited to the Greek summer climate, with very warm days and cooler nights.
Visitor Tips
- Buy tickets early as certain categories sell out quickly.
- Wear light, breathable clothing as temperatures at the open-air venue can be very high in summer.
- Bring or purchase adequate water and sun protection on site.
- The venue is large; comfortable, sturdy footwear is strongly recommended.
- Arrive early to avoid queues at the entrance gates.
- Book hotels in Athens well in advance, especially during the festival period.
