Welcome to the Mittelburgenland Red Wine Festival 2027
From 8 to 11 July 2027, the small winemaking town of Deutschkreutz in Burgenland becomes the heart of Austrian red wine. At the Rotweinfestival Mittelburgenland, around 25 wineries from Deutschkreutz, Neckenmarkt, Horitschon, Lutzmannsburg, Raiding and Draßmarkt open their cellar doors and invite guests to taste Blaufränkisch, the region's most celebrated red grape.

Program
The festival opens on Thursday evening with an official ceremony on the main street of Deutschkreutz, followed by live entertainment and the first tastings. On Friday and Saturday, participating wineries open their cellars from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, while the regional wine shop hosts a guided tasting of aged vintages (registration required). From 6:00 PM, the main street turns into a lively wine and music venue that runs into the early morning hours. The festival winds down on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a final tasting and live music. A free shuttle train carries visitors comfortably between the wineries.
Tickets
Entry to the tasting stalls on the main street is free; wine is paid for directly at each stand, by the glass or as a tasting package. For the open cellar door days, visitors need a tasting pass, available from participating wineries and the regional wine shop in Deutschkreutz, at a cost of around 60 euros per person. The guided vintage tasting requires separate registration.
Visitor Tips
- Book accommodation early, as Deutschkreutz fills up quickly during the festival.
- Traveling by train from Vienna's main station takes about 1.5 hours and is recommended.
- Use the free shuttle train to visit several wineries in one day.
- Wear comfortable shoes, as the wineries are spread across the village.
- Register early for popular tastings such as "Reifepotential".
