Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Rust

The Ruster Adventmeile spreads across several spots in the old town. Alongside the central market at Rathausplatz and Conradplatz, individual town houses, wineries and local clubs open their own courtyards as small markets, including at the Bioweingut Schreiner, the Ruster Zechkeller and the Winzerhof Artner. The stage at Rathausplatz hosts a varied musical program, while the courtyard of the Kremayrhaus invites visitors for mulled wine and punch hosted by local associations. Exact opening times can vary slightly between individual exhibitors.

Tickets and Admission for the Ruster Adventmeile 2026

Visiting the Ruster Adventmeile is free of charge. The usual costs apply only for food, drinks and any special offers purchased from individual vendors in the town houses.

Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Rust

  • Traveling by ÖBB train to Rust is recommended, as the old town is only a short walk from the station
  • Parking is available on the edge of town, while the old town itself is car free
  • Late November and December can be windy and cool by Lake Neusiedl, so warm clothing is advisable
  • Since the Lake Neusiedl region gets busy during Advent, booking accommodation well ahead of time is a good idea
  • The historic paths through the old town are level and easy to navigate, including for strollers or mobility aids

Nearby: Other Christmas Markets Around Lake Neusiedl

Visitors to the Ruster Adventmeile will find several other notable Advent events close by that combine well with a day trip.

Winterwunder Mörbisch

Just a few kilometers from Rust, the Seebühne Mörbisch turns into a large light spectacle right on Lake Neusiedl from November 20 to December 30, 2026. A trail of lights leads through the lakeside grounds in Mörbisch am See to the largest nativity scene in the world, brought to life with a projection show of light, color and music. The event also features an Advent village with handicrafts and food, plus a children's program. Adult tickets cost 19 euros, tickets for children and teenagers aged 4 to 15 cost 15 euros, and admission is free once per day with the Burgenland Card.

Eisenstädter Christkindlmarkt

About 15 kilometers away in the state capital Eisenstadt, the Eisenstädter Christkindlmarkt traditionally takes place in the pedestrian zone around the main square, complemented by the Advent market inside Schloss Esterházy. The exact dates for 2026 had not yet been officially confirmed at the time of writing; in previous years the market opened in the third week of November and ran until just before Christmas. Visitors can expect Advent stalls, a music program, festively decorated courtyards and illuminated streets throughout the historic center.
