Welcome to the Sarajevo Film Festival 2027 in Sarajevo
The Sarajevo Film Festival is one of the largest and most important film festivals in southeastern Europe, traditionally held in Sarajevo in August. Founded in 1995 during the siege of the city, it has grown into a major meeting point for international cinema, regional productions and enthusiastic audiences across several venues in the Bosnian capital. Exact dates for 2027 have not yet been confirmed, the festival usually takes place in mid August.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
The program runs across roughly eight days and is spread over several cinemas and venues in the city centre, including the National Theatre, the Meeting Point Cinema and the large Open Air Cinema. Alongside feature films and documentaries, short films, student works and masterclasses with international filmmakers are also part of the regular lineup. The full 2027 program will only be published closer to the summer.
Tickets and Admission for the Sarajevo Film Festival
Tickets are traditionally sold in the local currency, the Convertible Mark, which converts to roughly 1.50 to 10 euros per screening depending on the venue and event. Opening night, closing night and the award ceremony at the National Theatre are usually priced a little higher. The exact 2027 sale dates and prices will only be announced closer to the festival.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Sarajevo
- Sarajevo International Airport is just a short distance from the city centre and the main festival venues
- Many venues are within walking distance of each other in the old town, making a central stay worthwhile
- Accommodation in Sarajevo should be booked well ahead of the festival week, as the city fills up quickly
