Welcome to the Sechseläuten Zurich 2027 in Zurich

Sechseläuten is Zurich’s traditional spring festival and takes place on 18 and 19 April 2027. On Sunday the colourful children’s parade moves through the city centre, on Monday the grand guild parade is followed by the spectacular burning of the Böögg on Sechseläutenplatz. The festival symbolises the farewell to winter and the beginning of the warmer season.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

On Sunday 18 April 2027 the traditional children’s parade takes place. On Monday 19 April 2027 the guild parade starts in the afternoon on lower Bahnhofstrasse and leads via Bürkliplatz and Limmatquai to Sechseläutenplatz. At 6 p.m. the pyre under the Böögg is lit. Afterwards thousands enjoy the barbecue in the embers. Sechseläuten is a public holiday in the Canton of Zurich.

Attending Sechseläuten and watching the parades as well as the Böögg burning from the streets and squares is free of charge. Optional reserved seats for better views are available (prices will be announced in good time on the official website). Tickets can be obtained via www.sechselaeuten.ch.

  • Public transport (S-Bahn to Zurich HB or Stadelhofen) is recommended – parking is very limited
