From 21 November to 30 December 2026, the famous "Sentier des Lanternes" (Lantern Trail) transforms Square Boufflers in the heart of Metz into a glowing winter wonderland. Celebrating its 15th edition, this spectacular light festival invites visitors of all ages on a magical 30 to 45-minute journey featuring over 2,500 handcrafted lanterns that illuminate the dark winter nights.

Program

The glowing exhibition winds its way through the paths of Square Boufflers. The trail is open Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Special opening hours apply on Christmas Eve (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM), and the site is closed on Christmas Day. Each year features newly reimagined light installations and monumental creations.

Admission to the Sentier des Lanternes is entirely free of charge. No tickets or reservations are needed; visitors can freely access the trail via the entrance at the Esplanade / Place de la République.
