Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Arosa
Arosa in the canton of Grisons marks New Year 2026/2027 as a high-alpine winter resort at about 1,800 metres: village life around Obersee and Postplatz, the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area, and festive mountain restaurants. The core dates are 31 December 2026 to 1 January 2027. As of early September 2026 the full public village programme for 2026/2027 had not yet been published in full.
Important: the municipality of Arosa generally bans fireworks (including firecrackers) and sky lanterns under local police law. In 2025 a free drone show at Postplatz replaced a classic midnight firework display. Confirm on arosalenzerheide.swiss and with the municipality whether that format returns for 2026/2027.
Highlights & Attractions at New Year's Eve in Arosa
- A snow-covered mountain village celebration around Obersee and Postplatz rather than a big-city square.
- New Year's dining on the Weisshorn summit (2,653 m) and at Tschuggenhütte – tables often sell out early.
- Tschuggenhütte has already listed 31 December 2026 with homemade cheese fondue and a DJ party in Tschuggendörfli.
- Night action on the Lenzerheide side: LIGHT RIDE tobogganing and SnowNights floodlit skiing.
- Hotel galas with multi-course menus, live music and a midnight toast across the resort.
- No official large firework show in the village centre; expect lights, music and, if repeated, a drone choreography.
- Straight after New Year: Arosa Balloon Week is scheduled for 3 to 8 January 2027.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
Evenings typically start around 18:00 with New Year's menus in mountain and village restaurants. Confirmed so far for 31 December 2026 is Tschuggenhütte: homemade cheese fondue and a party with 2000s hits and DJs. Destination classics – Weisshorn summit dinner, Piz Scalottas, Rothorn, and Alp Stätz after SnowNights – usually follow the same pattern as previous seasons. Binding 2026/2027 reservation pages go live seasonally on arosalenzerheide.swiss.
For a sporty countdown, combine dinner with floodlit slopes or the LIGHT RIDE night sledge run (Lenzerheide, Scharmoin–Canols, access via the Rothorn 1 gondola). In the village the atmosphere gathers at Postplatz, the Obersee promenade, bars such as KuhBar, and hotel lounges. 1 January is often about late breakfasts, skiing and, traditionally, a New Year's descent race organised by the ski club – the 2027 notice had not been issued by September 2026. All times and venues can change at short notice in alpine weather.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Arosa
There is no single ticket for the whole destination. Public village gatherings (square, lakeside, and any light or drone show) were free most recently. Costs apply for lift access, LIGHT RIDE (most recently about CHF 29 for adults, roughly EUR 31), night skiing, gala dinners and hotel packages. Mountain and hut dinners often fall in a range of about EUR 80 to 250 per person depending on the menu and altitude; ask each hut or hotel for confirmed 2026/2027 prices.
Book summit and hut tables as early as you can – in previous years Tschuggenhütte, Weisshorn, Piz Scalottas, Scharmoin and Lavoz sold out. Official booking links and the ticket shop are on arosalenzerheide.swiss and arosaberggastro.ch. Buy ski passes for 1 January separately in the mountain railway online shop.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Arosa

- Fireworks: Do not bring rockets or sky lanterns. The municipal ban is enforced.
