Welcome to the New Year's Eve celebrations 2026/2027 in Ceske Budejovice

Ceske Budejovice, the South Bohemian city at the confluence of the Vltava and Malse rivers, marks the 2026/2027 New Year with Advent lights on Premysl Otakar II Square. The official Ceske Budejovice Advent runs from 18 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, so the wooden market village is still open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The city has not organised a central midnight fireworks display in recent years, according to the mayor's office. The night is still lively thanks to the square, clubs, hotels and private fireworks outside restricted zones.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

A full official line-up for 31 December 2026 and 1 January 2027 had not been published in early September 2026. What is confirmed is Advent on Premysl Otakar II Square until 6 January 2027, including the ice rink, lookout tower, carousel and market stalls. On the afternoon of 31 December the Lannuv ponor usually draws hardy swimmers into the Vltava at Lannova lodenice; watching is free. Evening crowds gather on the lit square and in the old-town lanes. Midnight is often marked at Samson Fountain or near the Black Tower. Private fireworks still appear, but national rules ban consumer pyrotechnics near hospitals, schools and other sensitive sites. On 1 January the market and rink stay open; extra theatre and concert titles are typically announced later in autumn by DK Metropol and local clubs.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Ceske Budejovice

Entry to the Advent village, the ice rink and public squares is free. Paid options usually range from about 8 to 160 euros: club nights at the lower end, theatre seats in the middle, hotel galas and multi-night packages at the top. A multi-day Clarion Congress package for 30 December 2026 to 2 January 2027 has been advertised from around 535 euros per person (full stay, not a single-night ticket). Check budejce.cz, CBsystem and venue sites for current club and concert tickets. Treat any 2026/2027 party prices as provisional until organisers release the final programme.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Ceske Budejovice

  • Trains from Prague take about two hours and from Linz about two hours; the main station is within walking distance of the old town. City buses often run a reduced evening timetable on 31 December.
  • Late December in South Bohemia is usually freezing. Pack layers, sturdy shoes and gloves, especially for the rink and the riverside plunge.
  • Rooms near Premysl Otakar II Square and at the Clarion Congress sell out for New Year's Eve. Book early and check minimum-stay rules.
  • Do not bring fireworks into the wooden Advent village. Respect mapped no-pyrotechnics zones.
  • On 1 January many cafes and the market remain open. For a quieter view of the skyline, walk Zatkove nabrezi or Sokolsky ostrov at the river confluence.
