Davos in the Swiss Alps marks New Year's Eve 2026/2027 with hotel galas, mountain restaurants, clubs and the Spengler Cup final rather than one single street festival. The night from 31 December 2026 to 1 January 2027 unfolds along the Promenade in Davos Platz, at the ice stadium and high above the valley on Jakobshorn and Rinerhorn. Important: the municipality of Davos enforces a year-round fireworks ban, including New Year's Eve. Quiet alternatives such as sparklers, table fireworks, laser or light shows and alpine beacon fires remain permitted.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
31 December 2026 starts with sport: the Spengler Cup final at Eisstadion Davos, Kurgartenstrasse 6, Davos Platz, is scheduled for 12:10. Afternoons often stay on the slopes. From around 19:00, mountain and hotel programmes begin. Jatzhütte guests meet at 19:00 at the Jakobshorn valley station; Chalet Güggel lists a 19:15 cable-car time. Typical evenings include an aperitif, a multi-course meal, a toast around 23:55 and dancing into the night. Mountain railways usually run last descents into the early hours, often until about 02:30.
In the valley, hotels set the pace with gala menus, piano bars, DJs and a New Year's Day brunch on 1 January 2027. Davos does not currently advertise one official city-wide outdoor stage as a single ticketed event for 2026/2027. Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Davos
Access to the Promenade and public streets is free. Costs apply to dinners, club nights, mountain railways and sports tickets. Club entry was around EUR 21 (CHF 20) in the previous season. Hotel New Year's menus recently ranged from about EUR 100 to EUR 190 per person (roughly CHF 95 to CHF 175), depending on the venue. Jatzhütte has not yet published its 31 December 2026 price; drinks are often extra. Spengler Cup tickets in comparable years started near EUR 37 for standing places and EUR 104 for seats; single-game presale for 2026 opens on 8 September 2026 via the official Ticketmaster shop. Overnight packages with dinner cost more. Book via davos.ch, individual hotels, jatzhuette.ch, chaletgueggel.ch and spenglercup.ch. Euro figures are rounded conversions at the early-September 2026 rate of about 1 CHF = 1.06 EUR.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Davos
- Travel by Rhaetian Railway via Landquart to Davos Platz or Davos Dorf; Zurich is the main international airport. Local buses are free or discounted for overnight guests with the Davos Klosters Guest Card or Premium Card.
- Expect alpine winter weather, snow and wind. For hut terraces wear layered clothing, winter boots and gloves; indoor shoes are not enough outdoors.
- Rooms sell out between Christmas, the Spengler Cup and New Year's Eve. Reserve early and compare half-board packages.
- Fireworks and sky lanterns are banned in Davos and can lead to fines of up to CHF 5,000. Celebrate with quiet lights, sparklers and views of the illuminated slopes.
- Mountain parties use limited gondola slots and fixed last descents. Reserve menus early and plan your return before the last ride.
