• Arrive by train at Graz Hauptbahnhof and continue by tram. On spectacle night Hauptplatz and Herrengasse are closed and several tram lines are diverted. Graz Linien operate a special New Year's Eve night timetable.
• Late December in Graz is cold, often around freezing, with wind on the square. Wear layers, sturdy shoes and rain protection; the water show can leave the standing area wet.
• Book hotels in the old town, on Schlossberg or near Jakominiplatz early. The tourist office at Herrengasse 16 helps with rooms, tickets and current street closures.
• Arrive about 45 minutes before your chosen show block. Agree on a meeting point in advance, as mobile networks can be congested.
