Welcome to the New Year's Eve and New Year 2026/2027 in Haarlem

Haarlem marks the 2026/2027 New Year with historic-square atmosphere, restaurant dinners, club nights and concerts rather than one single ticketed festival. The Grote Markt, framed by the Grote or St. Bavo Church, cafes and lit streets, is the natural gathering point. Public squares are free to visit; parties and concerts require separate tickets once they go on sale.

Highlights & Attractions at New Year's Eve and New Year in Haarlem

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

On 31 December 2026 the city centre fills with diners and bar guests. A city-wide official midnight fireworks show on the Grote Markt had not been published as of early September 2026. Haarlem has long banned consumer fireworks in categories F2 and F3; a national safe-New-Year framework also applies. Only category F1 items such as sparklers are generally allowed. Anyone looking for a large professional display should follow later municipal announcements and check organised shows in nearby Amsterdam.

Club line-ups for 31 December 2026 are typically released in autumn. Patronaat is traditionally Haarlem's largest New Year's Eve venue; age limits and prices appear on patronaat.nl. On 1 January 2027 PHIL Haarlem (Lange Begijnestraat 11) hosts its annual New Year concert at 15:00, including a drink, on a pay-what-you-want basis from free up to about 50 EUR. Further January concerts include the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble New Year's Concert on Tour on 17 January 2027. The municipal New Year reception in the Gravenzaal of City Hall at Grote Markt 2 usually takes place in the first week of January; the 2027 date is announced later by the municipality.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve and New Year Haarlem

Walking the Grote Markt and public streets is free. Typical event tickets range from 0 to 50 EUR: the PHIL concert on 1 January 2027 uses pay-what-you-want up to about 50 EUR, and the NBE concert on 17 January 2027 is listed at about 19.50 to 34.50 EUR. Previous Patronaat New Year's Eve tickets were around 35 EUR; the 2026/2027 price was not yet published in early September 2026. Restaurant menus are priced separately and can be higher. Buy via visithaarlem.com, philhaarlem.nl, patronaat.nl and individual restaurants. Book early.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Haarlem

  • Travel by train to Haarlem Centraal; Amsterdam is about 15 to 20 minutes away and the Grote Markt is walkable from the station.
  • Late December is cold, often wet and windy. Wear warm waterproof layers and sturdy shoes.
  • Reserve hotels and New Year's Eve dinners early, especially near the Grote Markt, Botermarkt and the station.
  • Do not bring higher-category consumer fireworks; local and national rules are enforced.
  • Try oliebollen, and check autumn updates from the municipality, Patronaat and PHIL before you travel.
