Welcome to the New Year's Eve and New Year 2026/2027 in Kassel
On Thursday, 31 December 2026, Kassel welcomes 2027 with concerts, gala dinners, club nights and open squares in the city centre. The main public stages are Koenigsplatz and Friedrichsplatz, alongside venues such as the Staatstheater INTERIM, Theaterstuebchen, Bar Seibert and Circus Flic Flac. A single official municipal fireworks show has not been confirmed as a fixed highlight for 2026/2027; many visitors celebrate indoors or watch the city from viewpoints such as the Hercules monument in Bergpark Wilhelmshoehe.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
New Year's Eve 2026 in Kassel is a city-wide mix of events rather than one official festival. Galas often start around 18:30, while clubs open between 20:00 and 21:30. Confirmed or already listed options include the Tina Turner homage at Bar Seibert (doors 18:30, show 21:00), the big party at Theaterstuebchen from 20:00 and “Welcome 2027” at Musikpark A7 from 21:30. Circus Flic Flac continues on Friedrichsplatz through 1 January 2027. For the first days of 2027, the State Orchestra of Kassel has announced the New Year concert “Alles tanzt” on 2, 3, 9 and 10 January 2027 at 16:00 in the INTERIM.
In recent years the city has banned category F2 fireworks on Koenigsplatz, Friedrichsplatz, Opernplatz, Florentiner Platz and parts of Obere Koenigsstrasse and Treppenstrasse while wooden Christmas-market stalls or large tents remain in place. Whether the same ban applies in 2026/2027 should be checked on kassel.de shortly before 31 December. Private fireworks are typically set off outside those zones. Lighting fireworks is generally not allowed in Bergpark Wilhelmshoehe or Karlsaue.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Kassel

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Kassel
- Arrive via Kassel-Wilhelmshoehe ICE station; trams 1, 3 and 4 serve the centre, lines 5 and 6 serve INTERIM (Auestadion or Park Schoenfeld stops).
- Late December in northern Hesse is cold, often around freezing: pack layers, sturdy shoes and a weatherproof coat.
- Book hotels near Wilhelmshoehe, Koenigsstrasse and Friedrichsplatz early; New Year's Eve weekends fill quickly.
- Use fireworks only outside posted ban zones and never in Hessen Kassel Heritage parks; check kassel.de for the latest rules.
- For a view without the inner-city crush, head to Hercules, Wilhelmshoehe Palace or higher ground such as Weinberg; midnight public transport can be crowded or reduced.
