Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Kranjska Gora

Kranjska Gora marks the 2026/2027 New Year as a compact Alpine resort beneath Mount Vitranc, with decorated streets, Winners' Square (Trg zmagovalcev) in the centre and ski slopes a short walk away. 31 December 2026 is a Thursday; 1 January 2027 is a public holiday in Slovenia. The official outdoor line-up for New Year's Eve 2026 is usually released only in autumn. Until then, the established format is the best guide: a free stage on Winners' Square from 22:00, a midnight countdown, live music and dancing into the night.

Highlights & Attractions at New Year's Eve in Kranjska Gora

  • Free open-air New Year's Eve party on Winners' Square with countdown and dancing into the early hours
  • Festive lights across the town centre and the Alpine Village (Alpska vasica) throughout the holiday period
  • A children's New Year's Eve programme in the afternoon, held in previous years in Vitranc Hall
  • Hotel, hut, igloo and Korona entertainment-centre dinners that require a separate reservation
  • Skiing on 31 December and New Year's Day if the resort is open (the season typically runs from early December to early April)
  • A walk to Lake Jasna for views of the Julian Alps and the lit-up village
  • Easy day trips to Planica, Podkoren and Ratece during the holiday break

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

In recent years the public celebration on Winners' Square started at 22:00. A folk or entertainment ensemble played through midnight, followed by a toast, New Year wishes and more dancing outdoors. Families could join a children's party on the afternoon of 31 December in Vitranc Hall. December also brought concerts in the Alpine Village and a traditional New Year concert by the Jesenice–Kranjska Gora wind orchestra. Artists and exact times for 2026/2027 have not been published yet; check kranjska-gora.si from November onwards.

Many visitors ski on Vitranc or walk to Lake Jasna during the day, then dress warmly for the square at night. Hotels and restaurants such as Kosobrin, Casino Larix, Hotel Spik, Pino Alpino, Gostilna Jasna and Korona run their own ticketed New Year's Eve evenings. The municipality has repeatedly asked residents and guests not to use private fireworks, citing children, animals and the nearby Triglav National Park. A large official firework display is therefore not the centrepiece; the atmosphere comes from the stage, the lights and the mountain setting.

Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Kranjska Gora

The open-air party on Winners' Square has been free in previous years, with no pre-registration. Hotel dinners and indoor shows are charged separately. Published 2025 menu prices included about EUR 70 per person at Cabin Log Kosobrin, EUR 90 for non-members at Korona Casino (buffet and programme included) and EUR 125 for a multi-course dinner in Alpine igloos. Rates for 31 December 2026 are not yet confirmed and should be booked directly with venues or via kranjska-gora.si. Ski passes, parking and accommodation are extra.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Kranjska Gora

  • Getting there: By car, Kranjska Gora is about one hour from Ljubljana on the A2. Ljubljana Airport (LJU) is the closest major airport; Klagenfurt and Trieste are alternatives. Trains run to Jesenice, then continue by bus or taxi. Winners' Square is walkable from the town centre.
  • Weather and clothing: Late December often brings snow, wind and sub-zero temperatures. Wear layered, waterproof clothing, winter boots, a hat and gloves, and add extra insulation for the outdoor midnight programme.
  • Where to stay: Hotels and apartments fill early for Christmas and New Year, often with a minimum stay. Book months ahead. Nearby bases include Podkoren, Ratece, Gozd Martuljek and Mojstrana.
  • Parking and getting around: Use marked car parks on the edge of town and walk into the centre. Taxis are limited after midnight; staying within walking distance of Winners' Square is the simplest option.
  • Check before you travel: The concert line-up, indoor programme and slope status are confirmed only close to the holidays. Contact Turizem Kranjska Gora, Kolodvorska ulica 1c, 4280 Kranjska Gora, or visit kranjska-gora.si.
