Welcome to New Year's Eve in Sighișoara 2026/2027
For the turn of the year 2026/2027, Sighișoara celebrates inside its medieval citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The centerpiece is an open air New Year's Eve party on Piața Cetății with DJ OLiX and DJ Rujoi, joined by festive gala dinners with live music in the town's hotels and a Christmas market that runs into early January 2027.

Program & Schedule: Where to Celebrate New Year's Eve in Sighișoara
The public center of New Year's Eve is Piața Cetății. The town has confirmed two DJs, DJ OLiX and DJ Rujoi, continuing the well received open air celebration in the citadel from the previous year. The city's cultural calendar lists a party with a DJ and fireworks from 22:00. Whether fireworks will definitely take place, how the stage program will run and whether entry is charged had not been officially confirmed at the time of research.
If you prefer a seated celebration, two hotels offer festive programs. The DoubleTree by Hilton Sighișoara Cavaler features welcome drinks with Transylvanian specialties, a New Year's Eve dinner with open bar and live music or a DJ, and the Plugușorul tradition with the citadel drummer. On New Year's Day it continues with a brunch, a traditional dinner with open bar and live music, and a masked ball. The Mercure Binderbubi offers a welcome dinner with a DJ, a New Year's Eve feast with live music, a brunch, a wood painting workshop and a Romanian themed evening with a DJ on New Year's Day, plus a guided tour of the citadel.
No stand alone club or disco nights had been officially announced at the time of research. If you are looking for a club night, ask the venues in the old town directly about their plans. During the day and early evening, the free Christmas market on Piața Cetății is worth a visit, with children's workshops in the afternoon and choir concerts in the early evening. The program may change.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve in Sighișoara 2026/2027
No admission prices have been published for the open air party on Piața Cetății so far, while the Christmas market in the citadel is listed as free by the city. The hotel packages are priced per person in a double room. The DoubleTree by Hilton Sighișoara Cavaler offers a three night half board package for 2,290 RON (about 450 euros) and a four night package for 2,585 RON (about 507 euros). The Mercure Binderbubi charges 2,200 RON (about 430 euros) for three nights with half board, with supplements for suites and children. Both hotels require a 50 percent deposit, with the balance due before Christmas. Euro amounts are approximate conversions and may vary with the exchange rate.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Sighișoara
- The citadel is largely pedestrian with cobblestone streets, so wear comfortable, non slip shoes on New Year's Eve
- Early January is cold in Transylvania; pack warm clothing, a hat and gloves for the open air party
