In previous years the city cordoned off Schlossplatz in the evening; a similar approach and a ban on carrying or setting off fireworks above category F1 inside the Cityring are likely, but only the next police ordinance will make the 2026/2027 rules binding.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Stuttgart

• Arrive by train at the main station and continue on VVS (S-Bahn, light rail, bus). Driving is inconvenient because of closures, checks and scarce parking. Check night services on vvs.de.
• Late December is usually cold, often around or just above freezing; wear layers, sturdy shoes and rain protection. Do not bring fireworks into the Cityring if the ban is renewed (fines can run from a few hundred to several thousand euros).
• Book hotels in the centre, Bad Cannstatt or Killesberg early; New Year’s Eve weekends sell out and prices rise.
• Viewpoints such as Haigst, Bubenbad, Heinrich-Heine-Hoehe and other ridge spots give a better view of fireworks outside the ban zone; the Württemberg chapel and Solitude Palace areas also had fireworks bans in previous years.
