Welcome to the Silvesterkonzert of the Staatskapelle Dresden 2026 at the Semperoper
The traditional New Year’s Eve concert of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden takes place on 30 and 31 December 2026 at 5:00 pm in the Semperoper. Conducted by Marie Jacquot, with pianist Igor Levit and mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo, the evening opens the Beethoven anniversary year 2027 in style. The venue is the historic Semperoper at Theaterplatz 2 in Dresden, Germany.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
Both concerts begin at 5:00 pm. Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 is confirmed; additional works by Ravel, Beethoven and others will be announced later. Exact duration has not been published. The 30 December 2026 performance is sold out (possible returns at the box office); tickets remain available for 31 December 2026. The event is part of the 2026/27 season of the Semperoper and the Staatskapelle Dresden.

Official ticket prices (per Staatskapelle/Semperoper information): 30 December 2026 approx. 100–175 euro (sold out, try box office); 31 December 2026 approx. 150–250 euro. Tickets are sold via semperoper.de and the official Semperoper ticket shop. Demand is high – book early. A limited number of seats was still available for New Year’s Eve (31 December). Purchase only through official Semperoper or Staatskapelle channels.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Dresden
- Getting there: The Semperoper sits on Theaterplatz in Dresden’s historic centre. Walking distance from many hotels and the Frauenkirche; tram stops Theaterplatz / Postplatz. By train: Dresden Hauptbahnhof or Dresden-Neustadt, then tram or taxi. Dresden Airport (DRS) is about 30 minutes away.
- Dress code: Formal or festive evening wear is customary (business or black-tie style). The auditorium is air-conditioned; a light jacket or wrap can be useful.
- Where to stay: Hotels and apartments in the Altstadt and around Neumarkt are in high demand over New Year – book early. Many properties are only a short walk from the Semperoper.
- On site: Check door times and cloakroom rules in advance. Photography during the performance is generally not allowed. With a 5:00 pm start, there is time afterwards for a New Year’s dinner or the city’s celebrations.
- Updates and remaining tickets: semperoper.de and staatskapelle-dresden.de. The Semperoper box office and visitor centre provide opening hours and any last-minute returns.
