Welcome to the Silvestermeile Munich 2026 on Ludwigstraße

Silvestermeile Munich is expected to return for New Year’s Eve 2026/27 on Ludwigstraße: an roughly 800-metre open-air mile between the Siegestor and Schellingstraße/Odeonsplatz with light and laser shows, video mapping, live music and street food. The premiere took place on 31 December 2025; the city approved the format as a two-year pilot, and the organiser (G.R.A.L. GmbH) confirmed after the first edition that it would continue. Exact dates, lineup and ticket prices for 2026 have not been published as of October 2026 – updates will appear on silvestermeile.de.

Highlights & Attractions at Silvestermeile in Munich

  • Central New Year’s Eve celebration without traditional fireworks: synchronised light, video and laser shows along the historic boulevard.
  • About 800 metres of Ludwigstraße between Siegestor and Schellingstraße/Odeonsplatz turned into a controlled party and experience mile.
  • Four stages with different styles: Pop & Party at the Siegestor, singer-songwriter (Local Voices), hip-hop (Huber Beats) and electro (Ludwig Beats at Ludwigskirche).
  • Interactive light art and façade projections, including at St. Ludwig Church and Professor-Huber-Platz.
  • Early-evening family countdown and a full midnight audiovisual show as the climax.
  • Street food and drinks with regional and international options, including vegetarian and vegan choices.
  • Step-free access, controlled entrances and a lower-emission alternative to private fireworks in the city centre.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026

The detailed 2026 programme is not yet announced. At the 2025 premiere the site opened at 19:00 and closed around 01:30. The four stages featured acts such as Moop Mama, Gerry & Gary, singer-songwriter and electro artists, and hip-hop DJs, with light installations running all evening. A shorter family show was staged around 22:00, with the main light and laser show at midnight. Whether times and formats stay the same in 2026 is still open – lineup and schedule are usually released in the autumn on the official website.

The event is fully outdoors. Fireworks remain banned in Munich’s old town and other central zones; Silvestermeile is positioned as a controlled, light-based alternative. Attendance can vary; the organiser reported about 10,000 tickets sold in 2025.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Munich

  • Getting there: U-Bahn stations Giselastraße (north) and Odeonsplatz (south) serve the entrances. Driving is not recommended – no parking on site. Check MVV and any special New Year’s Eve timetables.
  • Weather and clothing: New Year’s Eve in Munich is often very cold. Warm, windproof layers, sturdy shoes and gloves are essential. The event runs in most weather unless conditions become extreme.
  • Where to stay: New Year’s Eve is peak season – book hotels and apartments in Maxvorstadt, Schwabing and the centre early. Locations within walking distance of Ludwigstraße or with easy U-Bahn links help with arrival and departure.
  • On site: Bag checks and a maximum bag size of about A4; banned items include pyrotechnics, large backpacks, glass and outside food/drinks. Payment in 2025 was largely card-based. Toilets are available; seating is limited; no cloakroom.
  • Age rules and accessibility: Admission from age 6; under-18s must be accompanied. The site is step-free/wheelchair accessible. Strobe and laser light are part of the show – may not suit sensitive visitors. Always check current entry rules and entrance details on silvestermeile.de.
