Welcome to the Vienna New Year's Eve Trail 2026/2027 in Vienna
On December 31, 2026, Vienna's city center transforms for the 35th time into one of Europe's largest New Year's Eve street parties. The Silvesterpfad takes place across eight locations in the historic center, running from 2:00 pm until 2:00 am, with completely free admission.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect on New Year's Eve in Vienna
The Vienna New Year's Eve Trail starts on December 31, 2026 at 2:00 pm and ends on January 1, 2027 at 2:00 am. Pyrotechnics of any kind are strictly prohibited across the entire event area and throughout the city; violations are reported or fined, with only sparklers allowed at a safe distance from people and objects. On New Year's Day at 11:15 am, the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert is also broadcast live from the Musikverein to Stephansplatz and the Winter Market at Riesenradplatz in Prater. A detailed stage by stage schedule for 2026/2027 will be published by the organizers closer to the date.

The Vienna New Year's Eve Trail is a public event with no ticket required; admission is completely free at all eight locations. For environmental reasons, drinks are served in reusable cups with a deposit (cup deposit 2 euros, mug deposit 5 euros), and numerous official caterers offer food and drinks on site.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Vienna
- Travel by public transport: U Bahn lines plus numerous bus and tram routes run all night, while the Ringstrasse is already closed from the morning of December 31 due to the New Year's Eve Run
- Dress warmly, since the outdoor celebrations continue into the early morning hours and late December nights in Vienna are typically cold
- Book accommodation in the first district early, as demand in the city center is especially high around New Year's Eve
- Expect security checks at the entrances: weapons, fireworks, glass bottles and outside alcohol are not allowed, and strollers are also prohibited around Stephansplatz, Graben and Kärntner Straße late in the evening
- Agree on a fixed meeting point with larger groups, since it is easy to get separated in the dense crowds
