What is Smukfest?
Smukfest in Skanderborg is known as "Denmark's Most Beautiful Festival" (Danmarks Smukkeste Festival) because it takes place inside a century old beech forest, Bøgeskoven, in the Skanderborg Dyrehave. Instead of open fields, the stages stand among ancient beech trees on the shore of Lake Skanderborg; the forest canopy provides shade and creates an atmosphere that few other European festivals can match. Musically, the festival covers a wide range: pop, rock, indie, electronic and hip hop all share the stages spread through the woods.

Program and music genres at Smukfest
The 2027 lineup has not been announced yet; according to the organisers, the first major names are typically revealed in autumn and winter. In previous years the program has ranged from international headliners such as Robbie Williams, Lewis Capaldi and The Killers to Danish audience favorites, spread across several forest stages including the Bøgescenerne (main stages) and smaller areas dedicated to electronic music. Beyond the concerts, forest light installations, art projects and a wide range of food stalls are a core part of the experience.
Tickets and prices for Smukfest 2027
Exact ticket prices for 2027 have not been published yet; based on past years, sales typically open in early November. For reference, in 2026 a full week pass cost around 3,695 Danish kroner (about 495 euros), while single day tickets ranged from about 495 kroner (roughly 66 euros) for Sunday up to 1,795 kroner (roughly 240 euros) for Friday and Saturday. Popular ticket categories sold out weeks before the 2026 festival, so buying early once sales open is recommended.
How to get to Smukfest in Skanderborg
Skanderborg is located in East Jutland and is well connected by train: the journey from Copenhagen takes roughly two and a half hours, and from Aarhus only about twenty minutes. During the festival, extra buses run directly from Skanderborg train station to the festival site in Bøgeskoven. The festival office is on Birkevej, and the grounds themselves sit within the Dyrehave; camping is available directly in the forest and on the surrounding fields.
Visitor Tips
- Pack warm, waterproof clothing, as the forest floor is often damp in the morning and turns muddy quickly after rain.
- Travel by train to Skanderborg; shuttle buses run from the station to the festival grounds.
- Secure tickets as soon as sales open, since Smukfest regularly sells out.
- Rent a powerbank or a locker on site, as phone signal can be weaker in the dense forest.
- Allow extra time to walk between areas; distances inside the forest feel longer on foot than they look on the map.
