Welcome to the Solstício Festival de Verão 2027 in Maia
Solstício – Festival de Verão is Maia City Council’s free summer-evening event marking the longest day of the year and the arrival of summer. The 2026 edition took place on 21 June 2026 at Parque da Cidade Desportiva and has ended. Exact dates and the programme for 2027 have not been published yet; the astronomical summer solstice falls on 21 June 2027. The organiser is Câmara Municipal da Maia. Follow cm-maia.pt and visitmaia.pt for official announcements.
Highlights & Attractions at Solstício Festival in Maia
- Free open-air night for the summer solstice at Parque da Cidade Desportiva in Maia, in the Porto metropolitan area.
- Focus on Portuguese live music: the 2026 bill opened with local artist S. PEDRO and closed with Os Quatro e Meia; the 2025 edition featured GNR and David Fonseca.
- A drone show as a centrepiece between the concerts – light, colour and movement over the sports complex.
- All-ages atmosphere: explicitly open to families and every age group, with no ticket required in previous editions.
- Venue: Cidade Desportiva da Maia – a sports and leisure complex with green spaces, paths and city infrastructure in central Maia.
- Compact evening format: typically starts at 21:00, with concerts and the drone show on a single night rather than a multi-day festival site.
- Municipal culture project: Maia uses public space to celebrate the solstice, community and Portuguese music.
Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
The 2027 lineup and exact date are not yet confirmed. In 2025 and 2026 the festival started on 21 June at 21:00. The pattern was an opening concert, a drone show, then a Portuguese pop/rock headliner. 2026 was the second edition of the format. Whether 2027 returns on 21 June and which artists are booked is decided by Câmara Municipal da Maia – only the official city channels are reliable.
This is an evening event, not a multi-day festival campus. Closing time depends on the published running order; previous editions centred on the programme from 21:00 onward. Extra services are not fixed in the official descriptions; expect standard municipal open-air arrangements once the 2027 edition is announced.
Tickets & Admission for Solstício Festival Maia
Admission was free (entrada livre / gratuito) in the documented 2025 and 2026 editions. There were no ticket tiers and no commercial pre-sale. For 2027 the status is not yet officially confirmed; free entry is likely given the municipal format and past practice, but only the city’s announcement is binding. Information: cm-maia.pt and visitmaia.pt. No tickets are needed while the city communicates free entry.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Maia
- Getting there: Maia sits in the Porto metro area. By car, approach Parque da Cidade Desportiva via Avenida Luís de Camões and the surrounding streets (including Av. de Altino Coelho). Metro and bus links serve Maia from Porto; check the city announcement for stop details on the night. Porto Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro) is the nearest major airport.
- Weather and clothing: Late June evenings in northern Portugal are often mild to warm, sometimes with a light breeze. Bring a light layer after 21:00, comfortable shoes for standing outdoors, and a compact rain poncho if the forecast is uncertain.
- Where to stay: Hotels and apartments in Maia and nearby Porto; once a firm 2027 date is published, book early for summer weekends in the Porto area. Cidade Desportiva is central in Maia and reachable on foot or by local transit.
- On site: Free entry often means an early crowd for popular acts and the drone show – arrive in good time. Parking, security and any restricted zones are published by the city with the programme.
- Stay updated: Use only cm-maia.pt and visitmaia.pt for confirmed 2027 dates, times, lineup and changes; the city’s and Visit Maia’s social channels add further notices.
